i'm not usually one to sniff takara's panties but this is one takara will definitely do a lot better. similar to scattershot.

Voyager is the perfect size for Sentinel Prime for his base mode. The only way for SP to be a leader is if he had has Apex Armor.

 

So I see broardside from this no brainer really.
I see the 3rd party alphatrions alt mode there so there's a small chance.

I hope that the masters line has deluxe counter parts

I am surprised they went with a Sentinel Prime before an obvious future Astrotrain color scheme release.

 

Wouldn't it be cool if they redecoed this as someone super obscure like sonic bomber, or sky garry, at maybe king atlas from universe

 

They didn't want the Voyager assortment of wave one to be all Decepticons. So they went with the Autobot retool first.

 

1. Sentinel will (allegedly) get a larger role in the comics of the foreseeable future, so he needs a toy to sell.
2. We already have a Classics Astrotrain mold but no CHUG Sentinel Prime. Hasbro WILL release Astrotrain eventually, but it's better to promote previously toyless characters first.
3. As written in LordGigaIce's post, Hasbro don't want Wave 1 of Voyagers to be all Cons (the other is Galvatron) so they go with Sentinel first, to give Galvy someone to butt heads with. (No pun intended.)

 

Probably marketing strategy since most people don't buy re-colours. So by making Astrotrain the "re-colour", it changes the perception somewhat and maybe these people will buy both Sentinel AND Astrotrain. Just guessing.

But this toy was definately designed for Astrotrain in mind.

 

I picked up Leader Sentinel Prime from DoTM for like $26 in summer 2013 because Amazon apparently had the wrong prices on them or something. I think it's a great figure and I'm having a hard time looking at this one and comparing the two. It's going to be seriously hard to convince myself this is worth picking up for the inevitable $30 price tag.

 

yep, the sentinel prime recolor wouldn't of sold if it was released after astrotrain. but it might sell before.

 

Obvious Astrotrain repaint is obvious.
This looks pretty dull, and that visible hand syndrome is TERRIBLE. This gets a big fat MEH from me.

I am not totally against picking him up but I think he needs some more color to break up all that orange. Maybe some silver hands and faceplate would be a good start.

 

Galaxy shuttle would have been a better choice as a remold of Astrotrain... (although would have been kinda small)

 

Why would you want these MP scale? For them to fit with classics prime and every other classics toy, this cant be bigger than a voyager. What kind of wonky ass scale collection do you have?
