The first biggest enemy of course being money. Anway, reading the post in the SOC thread got me thinking what do you do when you reach this brick wall? I've recently hit this wall myself. I've thought about putting some in storage and even wrestled with the thought of selling some that don't mean that much to me anymore.
Yeah, I have a room with wall to wall shelves for my collection. No space for new stuff at all. New stuff is replacing the old stuff on the shelve and I'm having to store it elsewhere. FYI this should be in the transformers general discussion forum.
Right now, my Drift figure is living up to his name. He has absolutely no place to go. It marks the end of space in my room. I am throwing out clothes to make room for my figures in my closet. :/
My shelves are completely filled... I plan on moving my Unicron Trilogy figures into a bin to make more space.
Hey. shelf pace is the third biggest enemy of a collector. The second is actually finding the stuff at retail. But yeah, shelf space is a problem. My dad loves to wood work, so any time I need more space, I tell him, and I get a new book shelf for my stuff byt the end of the month.
Luckily I have a large basement that I've "transformed" into my collection room. The walls are lined with six foot bookcases, and whenever I need more room I go out and get another one.I added two more this past weekend so that I could spread stuff out more.I just can't see having to put anything into storage. That would really suck,to have all these cool TF's and to not be able to display them.
I apologize if I sound like i am rich (which I ain't), but to me number one enemy is DUST. But I agree with number 2.
I am going to have to look into getting some afford able wall mounted shelves for display soon as the room that houses my collection is running out of floorspace.
what little space I got is filled too. kinda sad I cant fully display stuff like most of my Classics or my minty G1 Blurr they just sit behind a glass door where you can barely see em
My Bionicle room (yes, seperate room) is pretty much at "critical shelf" now and my Transformers room gets closer and closer every wave. Luckily when I run out of space my father and I put up another shelf and then I spread everything around again. For the time being I just work within the confines of my bedrooms, but once I move I'm going to make a real display room and set up everything in a much more ergonomical way. If only there was some kind of "bag of holding"...
I've ran into this problem. I've been moving stuff around and have created a good bit of space on my desk, so I'm alright for now. Once I run out again, I think I'll put some of my cheaper action figures in a container and slide it under my bed.
I find that the best solution to shelf space is to simply be extra picky about which toys you choose to display. But if you're all about showing off the bulk of your collection, it might not be so easy.
