The Escapist : News : Sega: Sonic Games Don't Suck, You Just Don't Understand Them



Having played pretty much all the recent Sonic games I think I'm gonna stick with "they suck."

And you gave them far more chances than I did.

 

There was one on the DS that my son plays that looks pretty fun. It's side-view platforming. All the other ones I have played after Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles has sucked.

 

I enjoyed Sonic Heroes a lot, but yeah....none of them have been great since Sonic & Knuckles bar the Rush games.

 

Offtopic Sonic games have been good. I love Sonic Racing

 

lol it just reminds me of IDW saying you're not reading the comics correctly.

Whatever happened to the customer is always right. It shows how out of touch you are with a fan base if you're saying they don't get it, at least hasbro aren't being like that with transformers

 

That was friggin' hilarious from them.

I like IDW and all, but that reeked of company hubris.

 

Unfortunately that seems to be the attitude of many comics companies, Marvel being the biggest case.

 

Agreed. I got back into comics a few years ago but I find myself reading fewer and fewer new titles/releases anymore.

As soon as I like something it's either cancelled or was limited from the get go.

 

I actually kinda liked the first sonic game on the dreamcast.

 

What's amazing is they got 50% of the game right in Unleashed and then forced you to play 50% “werehog” levels.

When did they say that?
I'm not surprised by it -just didn't know they had.

 

Haters gonna hate, but why should Sega spend more time and money making good Sonic games when thier idiot fanbase ensures that they make just as much bank otherwise by buying all the crap ones?

 

Yeah, I liked Sonic Adventure, it was the reason why I purchased a dreamcast on 9/9/99. After that... I don't know what happened to sonic

 

What is with all these companies that are insulting their users?

"You just don't understand Sonic games!"

"You're holding the iPhone wrong!"

Like REALLY? Is that any way to treat consumers!?

 

Personally I don't care whether the games 2D or 3D, all I'm looking for is a sonic game that's fun.
The last game I really enjoyed playing was sonic adventure, and that was 10+ years ago.

And is it just me, or has any one else noticed the lack of the somewhat under appreciated ability to "bounce off enemies and keep going at the same speed" in recent games? Nowadays you just plow through them or slow down completely.

 

Actually I think people are pinning that on IDW when it was the dude that wrote Continuum that said it. Remember the whole "Then you just weren't reading the issue correctly." excuse he had for it sucking....

As for Sega.

I guess the gaming population and every reviewer in the gaming industry just doesn't understand you guys then.....

 

Sonic Chronicles wasn't bad at all, but then again that wasn't really a Sega game.

They have their chance with Sonic 4, and they better not disappoint.

 

When is the new sonic coming out? The last thing I heard was the game got delayed

 

Not all the games after Sonic 3 & Knuckles sucked. Chaotix was at least somewhat okay ableit slightly mediocre  

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my all time favorite game ever. I freakin' love the old Sonic games. Is it sad that I'm not looking forward to Sonic 4 at all and I don't even care about getting it?

I guess you could call me a Sonic fan, but I'm a smarter Sonic fan as I haven't played any of the games after Adventure 2, haha. When you have a big portion of a Sonic game devoted to a mentally handicapped Cat fishing and you have a cartoon bat with D-cups and a lame emo version of Sonic, I decided it was time for me to fold.
