Actually, the NATO 5.56x45 that the AR-15 fires (when it doesn't jam) is more powerfull than the 7.62x39 the AK-47 fires. That's why they went to NATO 5.56 for the AK-74. You want to do some real damage, hit that puppy with an M14 or some other rifle firing a NATO 7.62x51.

Not that anything can match the carnage wrought by a Barret M82 .50cal AMW.
