Sorry, I don't really have anything to add except to say that now I feel less bad about shelling out for the initial offering.

 

Everyone who ordered a set, we should just post here when we get them, describing any possible quality problems. We should also post if they're in good condition to form an accurate view. No need to blow this out of proportion.

 

I would like to hear some reports that the paint is not missing on all of them. Just curious if this is the whole wave or not. Guess I will find out mine Tuesday when it gets here.

 

FFFFFF. I already have Takara FE OP (I dig the richer colors on him better and got the Dr. Wu sword/gun add-ons so he's my default TFP OP) but wanted the Hasbro FE OP as an extra to equip him with the upcoming Dr. Wu Star Saber and unmasked face with. He'll be kept mostly in bot mode but it sucks knowing Hasbro is yet again cutting corners in the paint department.

 

There is no way this is "cutting corners on paint". We are talking about very little amount of paint.

With this and problems FE Bulk has it's more of a QC thing.

 

I've ordered bot bulkhead and prime friday night from bbts, I'll post pics when they come in.

 

My Optimus and Bulkhead should be coming in tomorrow from BBTS I'll let you know the deal with mine when it gets here!

I will also have my Bulkhead and Optimus Prime on Monday as well (2 of each). They should be here by early evening and they will be the first items that I open up (I have other figures to open, but they can wait). I'll take pictures of how Prime looks (I'm betting that he will be missing the paint), and how Bulkhead's arm is (I pray that he is okay with no stressed areas/falling off arm).

 

I have both FE figures sitting in my BBTS PoL. Guess we'll see when I get them in hand.

In order for it to be considered cutting corners it'd have to be a deliberate action from Hasbro's side, in other words all of the figures from the second run would have to suffer of a lack of paint.

At this point we don't have enough evidence to tell if it's just a particular batch that somehow had those parts end up unpainted before reaching the assembly stage (which would be classed as a quality control issue), or if it was indeed a cost cutting measure.

 

Because there's a difference between purposely not applying the paint, and it accidentally not getting applied.

Even if all the samples are missing paint, it could still be a factory error. A small miscommunication can lead to the whole set of items being made with the mistake without anyone noticing. At that point, there's nothing to be done.

Does that make it excusable? No. It's bad QC management on Hasbro's part. It means they didn't take a good look at the first set of samples that came off the line. What it does mean is it isn't likely a deliberate cost saving measure. That amount of paint they save wouldn't even add up at large scales. If they were cutting costs, we'd see much more glaring reductions. Eliminating the yellow on the top lights and body would be something I'd expect for cost savings. That kind of detail work is something much more expensive than the plain spray paint on those brown bits. Eliminating a whole color would be a much more significant cost savings as well.

 

This could very well be what happened. Previous example of this would be Universe Ironhide's blue face. It was never supposed to be blue.

Either way, it sucks.

 

I knew that happened recently. I just didn't know what figure it was. Thanks for pointing that out. Yep, that's almost exactly the circumstance that likely came about. Hope it isn't the same QC manager, as that person cannot do their job properly.

 

I know someone on a different board who also got FE Prime from BBTS, had him check for this error and sure enough, his has it too. Looks like all of them are going to come like this.

 

Has this been established that this wasn't just a dud?
