But aside from Ratchet everything in that set has Hasbro counterparts. CW Ratchet did have the Botcon option, but that ended up being exorbitantly priced on its own. Same thing for the Aerialbots and Protectobots mentioned above. Hasbro's decision to leave the Seacons as import only is still baffiling.

fair point, couldn't remember what his original price was so thats all i had to go on, but even using the price of $180 and adding $35 to it for the extra deluxe gets you $215. $235 total for all the extra accessories and remolding still isnt too bad or even out of line with their pricing

not really if you pay attention. takara initiated these remolds first of all. plus hasbro loves being sunbow referential, only branching out when they have to. the seacons werent in sunbow so wether or not they were in the marvel run, they are still fairly obscure as far as g1 combiners go. also keep in mind they usually only go obscure in mainlines for single releases, impactor for example, or to complete older releases like the weaponizers. committing to doing seacons in a mainline is to commit to 6 very ugly colored and obscure characters hogging spots in a line for other things

    That's not Takara pricing.

Looking at the image of Snaptrap in alt. mode, it looks like there are two black guns (?) apiece attached to the bottom of the combiner feet? They also appear to be there when the feet are attached to Snaptrap's robot mode in another image. Are those detachable? Otherwise, how would the combiner stand?

I don't think they come off, but if you look they're pinned. So they fold up into guns that can be held by any character with a 5mm port, and for foot (or presumably gun placement mode) they can fold out to provide additional support for the combiner.

from the post above yours, that was already pointed out that it wasnt his original price and I replied with the fact its still pretty well within reason based on takara prices, so not sure why you felt the need to point something out that had already been accounted for

When BBTS gets theirs in, then we can make true comparisons.

You'd need a whackload of cash to replicate that. And even if you could, why would you buy 4 of those figures over the other Seacons?

Huh, interesting. Do Snaptrap's back cannons come off then? The Hasbro Pulse listing says that he comes with "twin cannons" and lists that among his other accessories, which seems to imply that the back cannons are also accessories that could be detached and hand-held.

Arguably, you'd need only the same amount of cash as you'd need to get the "regular" Seacons set (arguably less. I can't tell if there's a Gulf-as-weapon here).

As to why? I'm sure the comic is done this way only reflecting the fact that only Gulf is currently available, and it offers fans a way to complete a combiner right now if they want to. I'm sure everyone expects that most folks will wait for the other Seacons and do it the traditional way.

Getting all the Seacons still requires a whackload of cash anyway, I'm just saying that if you have that sort of money just lying around, a set of 6 different Seacons is probably a better use of it than Snaptrap and 4 of the same limb figure.

Perhaps. Not really disagreeing. But neither is there any great mystery here as to why the comic is done the way it is. The assumption in the comic is that the other limbs are not (yet) available.

in masterforce the seacon limbs were drones, there was no singular gulf character. troop building seacon limbs is accurate to the show and some people like that stuff
