Has anyone used Sea freight shipping from Japan? I've got some rather large items and EMS is just ridiculous, but I'm concerned about sending it Sea, because of the time (approx. 2months) and not knowing how reliable it is.

SAL is a no go because of the box sizes.

Anyone have a good/bad experience with this shipping method? Any advice would be much appreciated!! Thanks!

Not from Japan, but I have had a couple of toys sent via seamail from Canada. It took about three months but no problem with the toys. The seller was most reliable and I had no worries on that account, either.

    Haha.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm worried the boxes might get smashed/trashed. Not sure how they pack those freight boxes. If they pay attention to weight or fragility?

If I go EMS it's going to throw my budget off, but I'd hate to spend all that money and then have the toys damaged because I cheaped out on shipping.

    Tough decision!!

Well, I've had my entire household shipped via sea freight twice now. As longs as things are packaged just as well as air freight you should be fine. It just takes forever.

I sent toys I bought in Japan while there over three months. I sent via the local post office by sea and if I remember correctly, back to 2003, it took about a month, maybe less to California.
