Still not a fan of the metallic paint on the combined mode (nor of the new head) but I do like the bits of extra paint detail on the individual Constructicons. If I buy this thing in a moment of madness, I think I'll use it to display the bots individually while using the retail version for the combined form.

Can someone give me a quick history lesson please? What did Devastator's head look like in the original cartoon and movie? I know the SDCC vesion will not have the visor and that the regular release will. Which is more accurate? Where did the variations even come from? I'm trying to remember, but I feel like I can only recall Devastator sporting the visor.

The visor was in the cartoon and movie. The toy didn't have it and I don't think the comics did either, which is why I prefer this visorless head.

If I can get my hands on this version I'll pick him up.

Still not a fan of the individual bots though.

Not digging the use of the chrome, but loving the paint apps.

Amazing what some extra paint does to improve the look of the individual modes.

After missing out on the SDCC Metroplex and eternally regretting it, I do not intend on letting that happen again. For only an extra $30, I'm going for it.

When Takara reveals their Devastator next week at TTS I'll decide if I'm going to go with this one or theirs.

That's not a bad price. Almost makes me tempted to try and grab it from HTS.

    Almost.

Could always wait for the Takara version. They might make some modifications to some of the members and the overall color scheme.
I'm still on the fence about these figures. Just think some of the individual robots arms were very poorly designed.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Takara but given the sometimes awful color choices they've been making lately, I'm not expecting that the paintwork will look better than this.

Worst case scenario is Takara remolds the problem areas but gives it a paint job I hate. Then I won't know what to do.
