The fact that you said "Alternators" when you were a kid makes me feel REALLLLY old.

When I was a kid, I struggled with G1 Megatron for some reason.

I actually cannot name one Transformer that I ever gave up on, even as a child. Armada Unicron gave me some trouble when I first got him, but I never stopped trying to get it right and eventually did.

Maybe it's an idea to start a subforum for genuine children of the eighties? ;P

I had a micromaster in the 90's which head I could never pop up. I've since completely destroyed it out of frustration.

I never gave up on any, but some of the later Beast Wars figures did give me some trouble at first.

The only thing I find really hard about alternators are getting the legs on certain molds to cooperate. Mirage, Grimlock, and Tracks are the three hardest molds.

Then you have binaltechs which are less cooperative.

The question is if there was one as a kid though I gave up on? G2 ramjet. I really hated partsforming it at the time. Considering that I had G1 Darkwing from years earlier that changed cleanly.
These days I do like G2 ramjet, and the original decepticon jets as well. I was just really critical of it back then.

I also got a grey and yellow knockoff of a G1 seeker that was missing his head. So I gave up on that. the arms were just a rotation of the missiles with rotating block fists on the back.

This. Didn't really have a problem with the old toys. Mainly the one I have trouble with are the movie toys. DOTM Megatron is a pain, I just get frustrated for some reason when transforming him :banghead: .

I had issues with RotF Jetfire....he kept popping apart everytime i went to the next step...

And seriously, we may need to split this forum into a 80s group vs newer group...because as the previous poster said, I'm starting to feel old and dated...more Kup than Hot Rod :(  :p

BW Ramhorn, that guy was all kinds of fiddly for all modes, I ended up leaving him as a mess and just played with Sea Clamp and Cidiacon until I decided to combine them again.

G1 seekers were the only figures i could not figure out. All of them came from yard sales because they could not be found at stores (my loving mother would travel 2+ hours to Erie to get my Christmas Transformers) and thus had no instructions...I was an adult before I finally picked one back up and realized that the arms were folded up to make up the top of the jet mode. I remember suspecting it as a child thanks to the separations but my fingers were not strong enough to move them so decided I must have been incorrect and the figures were incomplete lol.

EDIT: Since we are now including new toys...Does anyone else fight with RotF Long Haul's legs when trying to get him into truck mode? Or am I just a moron who fails to notice the trick to it? lol

I gotta say MP Roddy was easy compared to ROTF Leader Prime the first time,I spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to transform Prime,no thanks to those lame ass instructions he came with,so I mostly transform my figures by hand now,and honestly I think it takes less time that way than with the instructions.

ROTF Prime is a pain in the ass, so I sold him on ebay asap. Other than that, Alternator Grimlock was a pain too. That single figure pushed me away from the entire line:lol
