you don't have to use styrene, you can also use paper drenched in superglue, this is easier to cut in the desired shape and after being covered in superglue it is just as hard. I have to give credit for the superglue-on-paper-method to someone on the boards, as it is originaly not mine, but I do not know the name of that person.
I have added all the details to the robot mode, it took quite some time, and even more patience, but he now has, screenaccurate chestarmor, his calves transform in a different way, to be more screenaccurate, he also has the pentagon-shaped heel things, and he has new backtoes, that support him better and make him much more stable. the next week I will be busy with finishing the car mode, then I have to cover some areas with greenstuff and sand all the rough edges to make him look more smooth. I can almost see the finishline
I remember reading about drenching cardboard in super glue, great idea doing the same with paper. And it's looking awesome!
i would do a little more research. greenstuff tends to be really soft when dried, and i've even had it crumble on me on multiple occasions
@wheeljack I hope to start on my next project soon. That will be even more ambitious if i ever get to finish this custom @captain x1 I have covered the carmode with greenstuff before but that was on a baselayer of cardboard. Now i will only use the greenstuff to re enforce the styrene and to fill in some gaps. I have already started to cover the carmode and i hope to post pictures later this week
this is becoming the ultimate in slow-moving projects, but here is an update. The Buttguards transform into seats as you can see. I still need a little more greenstuff and then I may even get around to sanding the thing
I don't think I saw this mentioned earlier, but in case anyone is wondering, I'm pretty sure the "green stuff" is Squadron filler putty.
It is indeed some kind of putty. Although i do not know the exact name. I have also used some liquid greenstuff. But that is only for small cracks. The reason why i wanted to make another bumblebee. Is because it bothered me that we never got a bumblebee with a decent gunarm, the wheel in the middle of the feet, a stealthmode and realistic wings on the back. All toys have a big windscreen on the back in botmode. This scratchbuild has a far more movie accurate backsection and that is one of the major differences with this scratchbuild and the regular leaderclasses.
I have to finish optimus first. Then i still have to sand all the greenstuff off the carmode. Cant really bring myself around to the sanding
It was on an old profile. Since i had an ebay account under the name actual customs i decided to change my name here to actual customs as well. however as soon as i finish prime i will continue this figure.
