That's pretty nice looking. I don't think the pen part is all that practical, but I like it.

It'd be nice if he wasn't Optimus, or at least if it was an Optimus that didn't have the robot mode of an Optimus with a truck alt-mode.

    Hoping its not that expensive.

Looks ace, but I saw it's going to sell for $59? Was that right? Way more than I would be willing to pay.

That's from retailers that have to import it and mark it up a shitload. Once it goes up on Japanese retailers it'll be less.

The legs look too long, feet too big, IMO.

    $55 on BBTS.

And I second your "WTF, Optimus??" thoughts. :lol  A lot of people said "Rung", which makes more sense. But in general, when I look at this... I don't think "truck" or "Optimus", so it makes no sense... aesthetically or artistically.

Business move-wise? OPTIMUS PRIME SELLS LIKE HOT SEX!!!! MORE PRIME BELL!!!!!

It's a shame to see art whored off like this... (or in this case, Optimus is the whore).

Rung may have been more fitting given the alt mode, but it certainly wouldn't have caugjht my interest as much as Optimus has.

    Ebay:
. This is being developed in Hong Kong, and Sentinel is making this product for the Japanese market; hence, the use of Convoy instead of Optimus--American comics are not big over here in Japan, so hardly anyone knows about IDW and their characters.

I sent Sentinel an email and pointed them this way so that they could be made aware of western interest and their desire for characters like Alpha Trion and Rung--they said their contract with Takara only allows them to market their pens in Japan, but that they would pass on the information they received to their development team for consideration;)

    It could have been Bumblebee:eek:

That name confuses the hell out of me because I keep thinking it's "Sentinel Prime"

Yeah, it should have had "Sentinel's Convoy (aka Optimus Prime) pen" in the title instead, most here know the name Convoy is only used for the Japanese market, and Optimus Prime for the international market.

Beautiful sculpt, and looks uber poseable. It's about the price of a Revoltech figure, and it transforms (albeit into a working pen). Wonder how this figure looks next to Revoltechs (and Custom Robot figures) and Legends stuff?

The bot mode is so stylish that I will have to totally ignore the alt mode.

Yeah, it's too bad they didn't make it Rung for the 5 people who would care and the 2 out of those 5 who would be willing to pay $60 for a pen. Always a shame to see art get compromised by manufacturers actually wanting to make money in commerce. Only thinking of themselves.
