Yup, just re-purchased series 2 voyagers and deluxes and got a return shipping label for my original order. $20 savings.

 

Shame they calculate the customs tax level based on the original price rather than the reduced price, so a figure that's $25 but $19 after the reduction is calculated as if it's $25 rather than $19, unfortunately the level below tax is $24 or less.



It makes sense in my head.

 

WHat stuff does it work on cuz it won't work for me.

The first time I had to go through a few pages of the payment process in order to see the discount. After adjusting what was in my cart it wouldn't even display the discount at all. It told me to check my order summary but I could tell by the totals that a discount was applied.

 

Where are you guys seeing the information about this? The only Transformers deal I see is for a movie ticket.

 

That's because they're legally required to calculate based on value rather than price. Value is typically defined as the full cost of the item for that retailer.

And while I know you're not complaining that they charge customs fees, I must reiterate in general for everyone else: CUSTOMS FEES ARE FEDERALLY MANDATED. ANY COMPANY WHO MARKS DOWN VALUE IS COMMITTING A FELONY.

 

dude - you should have just called them. They probably would have just refunded the difference to your original order. Could have avoided rebuying/ returning.

My bad, never tried adding a Prime figure to my cart as not many are shipped and sold by Amazon anymore.

 

I doubt in the real world that would ever happen as the company can call it price adjustment to reflect a lower value or change in the wholesale price.

or to put it another way every time Walmart has a rollback they'd say that isn't a sale it's a price adjustment. Amazon can claim the same - and probably would.

The value on these items is only showing up as full price as the voucher isn't coming off at that point. If they had a overall 25% reduction done in another way - I bet the customs fees would be sidestepped by the checkout - It's just a weird side effect of the way the customs fees are calculated in the checkout.

I believe the declarable value on an international BBTS order would always have the value marked as the sale price - if it was not no one would buy from them internationally as they'd be being raped by Customs for a value that isn't present. Besides I Know UK customs would eventually give the charge back if someone had marked it wrong - all you'd have to do is proved what you paid on the day.

Customs fees hardly ever effect Americans anyway as their incoming limit is so comparatively high at $100.00 in the UK it's barely over $20.00 (under $25.00) on 'merchandise' You can't even buy a Blu Ray without getting taxed on it.

It says so in the tex that it's "sold by amazon" so any item that I find by clicking on the seller name "Transformers" is going to be an amazon.com seller item I hope.

They didn't make that layout at all clear did they.

They are selling it for a certain amount (short term sale or not) that's what I paid for it that's what the value is. (if it's the cost FOR that retailer that would be the wholesale price then?)

Most of the time I find Amazon.com is one of the best stores for buying stuff from the states with the whole pre-pay tax thing.

Quite so, I chatted to them the other night as I'd ordered a couple of Slags a day or two before the offer and they gave me the difference in credit.


Also when searching on amazon I always set the filter so it only shows the ones sold by Amazon.com as that avoids all the marketplace sellers who usually don't ship to the UK, or charge stupid postage prices, or don't allow me to pre-pay the tax. (meaning I have to pay the tax plus an additional charge when it enters the UK)
