Good for her! Her art can be a bit wonky in the main book, but I chalk that up to them having to be slaves to the toy designs, which is REALLY stupid.
I'll miss seeing her covers, but it's good that she got a job that (hopefully) works more for her. For anyone who's not quite sure of what she's drawn, she was the artist behind this cover (among several others).
...yeah, i don\'t see how anyone can earn a livable income doing creative work in the comics industry anymore, but i have tremendous respect for everyone who follows their heart and takes a go at it anyway...
I like her art a lot - very expressive and energetic... but if you can get a full-time salaried gig right now, you jump on it and hold on tight. Good luck to her... and she's still in a Transformers-adjacent area, as I believe she's the art director for the TF CCG cards.
I'm sure it's super tough making a living in corporate comics, if that's her reason for going back to a full time gig I feel for her but hope it's not too painful a transition. Super off topic - but is that an Achewood gif as your profile pic? Most excellent!
It's a shame but I'm glad she found work. I was lucky enough to meet her and have my Lost Light cover signed - still one of my favourites:
As a Combaticon fan, I was over the moon with her work on TAAO. She did such a great job with my favorite characters. Liked the Valentine's Special she both drew AND wrote, too. I wish her the absolute best and if she ever returns to comics I'll be happy to see her return.
Yeah, totally this. Comics is not the safest, most secure industry at the best of times but it’s practically dead right now while the crisis persists. She’s a hell of an artist, it would be great to see her do books again at some point if things ever come close to being normal again.
