I am unreasonably excited about Rung, Apeface, and the cassettes.

Don't much care for the other new stuff though. The spinister would be so good, but that second leg cockpit bothers my OCD to no end; just urgh.

Awesome. Where’s the ten pack of Micromasters? I can easily skip rumble and Ratbat. The no line did them in better chug scale already.

More or less it's universal. But then you get into more unique types of engines like geared Shays, the failed steam turbines (seriously these things are weird looking), the also extinct Triplex (if you thought four pistons was crazy, some had six), or engines with weird designs like the "Camelbacks".

 

BUT, do they fit in Siege Soundwave's chest???

Geared steam locomotives are pretty rare, and work quite differently. They're also pretty much all American, so most countries wouldn't even have a need to classify/describe them.

::edit:: adding to above---turbine and camelbacks (and cab-forwards and Garrats) are still classified by their wheels, same as "normal" steam locos.

The overall nearest thing about it is---if you see a locomotive you've never seen before---you'd immediately know exactly what it's called and can correctly tell other people exactly what it is. Because the naming system is inherently descriptive. And vice-versa----if someone gives you a steam loco's classification----you can get a good idea of what it looks like. That does NOT happen with planes!

Edit: I was demonstrating in my response that there was more than just one "type" of steam train. I didn't even go into Garrets, Cab forwards, or other obscure designs.

They keep on repainting the same basic Targetmasters, I’m waiting for some single barrel ones, and also ones where the legs form the barrels.

I wish there was more variation...

 

The M-1 is so weird, it's almost steam-diesel hybrid in design, and the wheel arrangement is better described that way. It's steam, but the steam is used indirectly. Really it's like steam-electric, vs diesel-electric. (It has traction motors).

 

I'm sorry, but as great as everything looks, I can't help but lament how sad it is that this franchise can never move past G1. I still blame John Warden for this.
