Your New Captain America Is Sam Wilson

I'll admit I haven't read much of Captain America or Falcon, but from what I saw in the recent film, Sam looked like a cool guy and seems like a good replacement.

Yeah we've been talking about it in the Marvel thread for a few weeks now. Marvel is horrible about keeping secrets.

This is a decision I can get behind, especially in light of MCU.

Although Falcon was awesome in TWS I haven't read enough comics with him to have an opinion on his comic book character. But come on I want to read about Steve Rogers. When I got in to comics in 2009 Bucky was Captain America which confused me and I didn't even bother reading the newer comics because of that. But with Steve back I can read the more recent issues and such

    female Thor
    Sam Wilson as Captain America
    dead Wolverine

    Marvel why you trolling.

I imagine she'll have to now Thor is turning into Wonder Woman!

Seriously though I got pretty bored of Remender's run on Cap, maybe this is the sort of shake up needed to breath new life into the title.

Apparently white males dont read comics anymore, at least according to marvel anyway. That black midget lesbian demographic must be avid comic readers.

After reading how Chris Evans wants to leave the Marvel Universe as soon as his contract was up, I figured they'd have Bucky take his place. Maybe so many people liked Falcon from the movie, Marvel figured he'd be an even better replacement.
I hope we get a new Falcon to use the jetpack...

I'm only familiar with his appearance in CA:TWS, but based on that I could definitely get behind this. He definitely came across as a better potential replacement for Steve than Bucky did. I'm curious to see what his version of the suit will look like. Would be interesting to see a wing suit integrated into it.

Jeez, calm down. There's nothing wrong with diversity and change, which we all know is going to be temporary anyways.

Evans said he wanted a break from acting as a whole after Avengers 3 (or Cap 3, depending on which comes last). Bucky's already been Cap anyways in the comics, so this is something is new, especially since Falcon and Cap are like BFFs.

See, I'm of the opposite on this, when it comes to the MCU.

I think Bucky taking up the Cap mantle is much more interesting than Sam taking it, given Bucky's background as The Winter Soldier. The character development/conflict there is much richer than it would be with Sam, who's a lot like Steve as it is. I think there's a lot more story potential with Bucky trying to live up to Steve while dealing with the shadows of his past.

I love Sam and I love Anthony Mackie as Sam and hope he continues to be a main character in the Cap movies, but if Chris Evans decides to leave/take a break, I hope it's Stan/Bucky that takes over.

I've also become a huge Brubaker fan and feel his run on Cap (which includes Bucky Cap) was amazing. I loved that TWS took some inspiration from him.

Title should really read "Sam Wilson is the new Captain America until 2015 when Avengers 2 drops."

Chris Evans isn't out of the role yet -- he will be Captain America in Age of Ultron, which means Marvel will go right back to the status quo of the Avengers just in time for the movie.

All these moves are nothing but publicity stunts. I would love it if these moves were permanent and Marvel actually enacted some lasting change, but it will never happen.

    This. This so much.

The only change that's probably gonna stay for a while is Wolverine being dead if the rumors of Marvel disputing over Fox's properties is true.

I actually hope Wolverine stays dead for at least 2 years. He's so boring now and I want to see more of the other X-Men get some more time.

Evans ain't going anywheres, you watch. He'll get a contract raise and milk the part for another decade.

Regardless, these status quo changes have nothing to do with the MCU, they're just ways for Marvel to attempt and keep these 50-70 year characters fresh. Soap operas, people, boys soap operas.
