Since there seems to be a focus on MP scale 3P TF's now there is a wider market for them to dive into given Takara will only release 3-4 MP's a year (and they're generally more popular characters unless they're a repaint).

So which characters are pretty safe for 3P's to tackle and not have to worry about a Takara MP busting on the scene? Which ones do you want to see?

Mine's bit of a weird one. I don't like the character, and there is actually already an MP version of him... Hot Rod. I'd like to see an MP12 scale version without the Rodimus component.

Outside of Hot Rod, I'd love to see some MP scale Turbomasters.

i would like an idw thunderclash, think he'd be a safe character to make.

 

Safe... Pretty much any Japanese or European exclusive character.

Thunderclash would be great because there's an instant repaint into MW Optimus (with a new Optimus looking head like the packaging).

Liokaiser (though I understand there's a good chance FP is doing them)

Dinoking (with Monstructor repaint)

 

Since there are quite a lot of fans of the Wreckers in the Transformers community, I'd say a proper Impactor would probably go over pretty well.

All we've gotten is the FOC Impactor, and his lack of a harpoon-hand is really disappointing.

Pretty much any fembot or any of the bigger bots or characters that either weren't in the original g1 seasons or were created for the comics.

And yeah triple changers also.

 

MP wise, just about anything that wasn't in seasons 1-3 of the original G1 cartoon should be safe. I'm actually surprised that with all the focus on G1 from HasTak nobody has tried to do MP scaled characters from another era like the Unicron trilogy.

You can't honestly say something like a quality 3rd party Armada Prime wouldn't make bank.

Disagree. There are still plenty of TW Orion and Classics Prime scaled figures coming out.

Any character not announced yet is safe provided they can make them quick enough.

Hot Rod would be OK.

I would prefer a TW Orion scaled Impactor (same size).

Also (this won't be popular) but I'd like 3Ps to make the 6 Seekers. I don't like any of the current official ones.

You guys are so boring! C'mon, if you want something the big guys aren't going to touch, you need to go long. It needs to be something deeply buried in TF lore, yet still with cachet. At this point, we've gotten tons of figures for anything you could think of... Hasbro did MINDSET for crying out loud! No, you gotta work harder to be safe. I can think of two though that are very unlikely to ever be touched:

1) He's big, big, big, and he's red, red, red, and that's how he got the name... BIG RED!

Seriously, the guy doesn't even have a real name, just some random moniker Monzo stuck on him years ago. He's made subsequent appearances, and has a consistent look, so a creative 3P could do nearly anything with him.
