Redecos... annoying sometimes, sure, but sometimes its surprising that molds never saw reuse. For the purposes of this topic, it counts if the figure got a redeco but it was a difficult to obtain exclusive (so, for example, a Target exclusive redeco wouldn't count, but a Botcon exclusive would). Topic inspiration: Cyberverse Hatchet. Figure's amazing, jet mode's good, beast mode is both unique and really cool. RtS Lugnut: My figure of the year for 2011. Granted, I don't think any deco is going to be any better than the original, but still. More is better. PCC Undertow: Specifically, I can't believe there's not a G2 Manta Ray-inspired deco. Again, limited initial release, great figure, it's a shame there's not something out there for people who missed the original.
Oh, and as long as we're talking about Lugnut, I'll say I've always thought it would be a good idea to turn him into Sky-Byte.
TF1 Movie Protoform molds. It's not so much that they were amazing molds or anything, but I could've really gone for some seeker repaints, and Optimus in Optimus colours (either G1 or movieflames). The Starscream mold even had an alternate headsculpt (as seen on the cardback). The originals kinda warmed pegs for a while, but I'm certain it'd sell substantially better. The added appeal and character recognition that you get with the well known colour scheme is incredibly potent.
With Hasbro having utterly mastered the redeco/retool, they should really take a crack at some older molds like Universe Hound and Cyclonus. Hound in particular could make a great Classics-style Swindle.
Classics OP, would have been nice to see him redone as Ultra Magnus or Scourge, tee hee. Seriously though, Classics Nerf Megs or even the legends class Generations Megs would have been great to be redone as Browning. Here are some other ideas that would be could be awesome: - Generations Scourge into Alpha Trion. - RotF Incinerator into BM Obsidian
TFP Voyager Magnus would make an excellent Thunderclash. Both altmode and botmode are about as close a match as you'll get.
Am I mistaken or wasn't the Takara Lugnut release in a more Animated-like color scheme? Anyway, underused... Definitely Universe Hound, as someone brought up earlier. One of my favorite molds of the entire "Classics" set so far and it's only been used 3 times: the Universe release, Henkei, and a BotCon figure. The RTS Laser Prime mold is underused, in a sense, as well. You basically got 1 figure (each, Hasbro and Takara) out of the mold before it was handed over to FunPub to use.
I have to agree with the Hound people. Hound becomes Swindle so easily, and they ALREADY gave us a damn Onslaught...
