There's quite a few. For me personally, it has to be Ironhide's death. What about yours?
Bee's capture in the first film. It's one of the scenes that I think best captures the heart of the Transformers concept, and really drove home how the characters related to eachother in a way that was lacking a lot of the time elsewhere in the franchise.
Charlie getting busted up about Bumblebee. That kinda got me as we really did get a sense that Bee and Charlie were connected as best buds.
Not like the rest of the Bay Movies TBH. We never learned anything about guys like Ironhide or Ratchet below the surface so them dying did nothing to me. Hard to care for characters that barely exist as characters.
dotm when starscream blew up the shuttle
Bumblebee now generally seems to be considered a Knightverse movie (even if it's the only one). But yeah, Charlie and Bumblebee had a closer relationship than anything I remember from the Bay movies.
The video of Ratchet being killed by humans. For me, that's crueler than what happend to Ironhide (which is right up there too).
That scene where TJ miller got blown up by Lockdown makes me weep like a baby every time.
Also the scene where Centennial Prime shot the black robot made me sad because he's racist. And the scene where mech Albert Einstein was shot by Dr. Claw as a robot before Inspector Gadget got there to save him.
Bee getting captured in the first movie and the autobots boarding the spaceship to leave earth in DotM .
Ratchet’s death. Man I cried like a baby when I was a kid.
I didn't cry, but I can understand why you would. I got very angry with it. I had to stop my DVD and walk away from the TV for a bit to cool down when Cemetery Wind murdered him.
Any attempt at comedy was the saddest part of the Bay films.
This wasnt sad per say...but it was a moment that made me feel like the Autobots had truly lost
Probably autobot exile, bumblebee's capture In 07, and finally, most likely the autobot execution scene in dotm. I knew Bee wasnt gonna die, but when he looks at Sam and soundwave aims his cannon and optics go black instead of blue after he sees sam and carly. Then he plays "we had a hell of a run". That shit, that shit was really sad. Made me reflect on the franchise back in 2011 especially thinking DOTM was the last movie.
Ironhide’s death was more shock than anything, even though I knew it was coming, thanks to Amazon. They didn’t dwell on the death AT ALL after he was gone, too, so.
My poor little sister at the time was so attached to her favorite Ironhide though, and realized what was going to happen during the Mexican standoff due to the heavy focus on Ironhide, but nonetheless she bawled watching her favorite horribly die. In some ways that was her G1 Optimus or Mufasa or Bambi’s Mom.
Ratchet’s death was upsetting to me because he had been my favorite. 2007 got me into Transformers and he was my favorite because he was the helpful guy in the background who never got to do much but was always there. And I grew to love Animated and Prime Ratchet as well, and he’s still my all time favorite character across the mythos. I didn’t cry, but I saw his death coming the moment he came under fire in a trailer because we know Bay plays for keeps with deaths unless your name is Optimus or Megatron, and it sucked. Just plain sucked to watch him get slowly whittled down and to watch him be killed defending Optimus to the end. That last, sad “never”, and the sad look on his charred, half-gone face as he knew fully well what he was doing, got me. Heroic, yes. Thats one of the main reasons I’ve never rewatched all of AOE since the theater.
That and AOE sucks, but yeah.
If we’re talking from a good TF movie, then definitely when Charlie breaks down crying in Bee’s arms.
Bee's capture in the 07' film to me, may be one of the most genuinely emotional scenes in a Bay film...though I do feel Spielberg had a hand in it's crafting, because Bay never gets that emotional. I always assumed the premise to go on, is imagine if the government attempts to take your dog away, and you try to stop them (as Sam tries to do).
Close second would be Ratchet's scene in AOE. I remember being shocked when after that spark of an explosion, we find out they had blown his leg off! Plus with his voice, it sounds almost like these men are bullying an old man.
Actually I found the first movie to be genuinely funny. I laughed more watching it than at most actual modern comedies.
Saddest scene was Que begging for his life before being executed.
Also as terrible a movie as ROTF was, I did find Ron's not wanting Sam to risk his life to restore Optimus quite an emotional performance.
Ron was a great actor
