Definitely Ironhide, his death was because of betrayal and got forgotten rather quickly in universe.

Plus Ironhide was a fan favourite.

It's a toss-up between Ironhide and Ratchet - both of them were murdered, betrayed by people they thought were allies, in a particularly brutal fashion. Ironhide got it bad in that his whole body decayed while he was still alive, while Ratchet's corpse was desecrated by Cemetery Wind and KSI. Que's death is a good runner-up.

None of the deaths were necessarily sad to me. While I did enjoy Ironhide, Ratchet, Jetfire, etc., I was not emotionally invested enough in their characters to feel sad about their loss. That's not to say I don't care about the characters it's just that I am not that attached to them.

Well I showed my mom Age of Extinction finally and oh boy she did not take Ratchet's death well. She was pratically bawling during the whole scene and asked me to never bring up that scene to her ever again. She really liked Ratchet and to see him get killed in such a fashion was horrifying to her. It also made her really hate Lockdown with a passion to the point she was rooting for his death by the end of the film.

This was basically a run down of her reactions during the scene.

Mom - Wait what's going on?
Me - That's Cemetery Wind, they're hunting down and killing Autobots.
Mom - So they're after a Autobot. Do they kill him?!
    Me - ...
Mom - You're not responding, that means he does get killed. It's not the ambulance character is it?
    Me - ... Just watch.
Mom - It is isn't it!
*Ratchet gets sent flying from the explosion*
Mom - That is him! No I don't want him to get killed!
*fast forward through the moments of Ratchet getting shot with my mom crying*
    *Lockdown shoots Ratchet*
    Mom - Noooooo!!!!!!!!!
    Lockdown - Never is here.
Mom - That jerk killed him... and I hate the kind of car he turned into just now! Why did he have to get killed off?

I'm surprised my brother took the death of Ratchet better than her considering the first time he watched the movie, his reaction to the scene was "No no no Bay! Don't you do it Bay! Don't you dare kill off one of my favorite characters again like you have in the previous films! Don... You did it! You actually killed off one of my favorite characters! Again! GAH!"

The saddest for me was definitely Ironhide. Remember watching Dark of the Moon when I was a kid and being absolutely horrified when Ironhide was brutally murdered. Afterwards, not one word was said about him, he was forgotten.

I mean, he was a weapons specialist in a war...who was killed in a war by a special weapon.

Don't get me wrong, I would've loved to see the memorial scene they had planned, but nothing much really needed to be said about his death that wasn't already said by the look on Optimus Prime's face when he rolled up to N.E.S.T. and his silence at Mearing's accusations.

    :-\

And LOL at "remember watching Dark of the Moon when I was a kid," as if 2011 was a million years ago.

    XD

Both Ironhide and Ratchet's deaths were horrific.

Ironhide and Jetfire had me all misty eyed and a little angry at Mr. Bay & Co. With Ratchet's death I had tears running down my cheeks and a more than a little angry at Mr. Bay & Co. Optimus's death had me inconsolable for a bit afterwards.

So for me Optimus's death was the saddest.

Oh hey, I finally found someone that shares the same opinion as my brother. Yeah as I mentioned eariler in this thread, my brother didn't take well to Optimus getting killed off, even after the revival.

It even made him really hate Sam since he blamed the whole thing on him... much similar to his feelings toward Hot Rod. *sigh*

Never felt the movie deaths were sad. Only the implication that Bumblebee was about to die had me feeling something because he was at least a little bit developed in the movies...

Jazz - We never really got to have his character developed and the film didn't really linger on his death, it just happened and he was kind of tossed aside both physically and emotionally
Optimus - This death never really connected with me because it felt out-of-place for Optimus to just stand there looking for Sam, his death also didn't have weight because Sam could have easily revived him with the shard, plus its Optimus in the second movie, we knew he would return from shots in the trailer
The Arcees - Not developed, barely had any lines and weren't interesting in design, barely even noticed they got killed and one of them didn't yet just disappeared from the movie
Jetfire - Didn't feel a thing, didn't like the character and his death seemed really silly and is repulsive by the movie's logic as its Optimus wearing a corpse
Ironhide - He had development but never really felt like a character and his death felt more like a plot point than an emotional moment, plus he wasn't really referenced after
Que - Poor voice acting here sadly meant it wasn't very effective, even after being shot he sounds the same, what could have been emotional happened to a character who wasn't developed. That being said the 'goodbye my old friend' was a nice addition and would have tugged at the heart strings if the character had been developed
Sentinel - Had strange development and while he and Optimus could have worked as having to reluctantly kill the mentor figure, it sadly lacked development where it counted and Optimus killing Megatron and Sentinel felt too forced
Leadfoot - Murdering humans while claiming he is an Autobot was just dumb and i never liked the character anyway
Ratchet - Killing humans while begging for his life, once again this is dumb. They could have handled it better by having him refuse to fight or something

Firing in the general direction of humans does not mean they were being killed.

LOL what? I'm pretty sure it was the humans and presumably Lockdown as well that were trying to kill him. Even if Leadfoot did kill some humans it was entirely in self defense.

And Ratchet obviously, obviously tried reasoning with the humans after his leg was blown off. His response was quite kind and reasonable if you ask me. He only even fires back once Lockdown attacks him from the swamp. He was asking them, "What's wrong with you humans?" while justifiably firing back at that point. Even when Lockdown offers him a choice he doesn't beg. He honorably would rather have his Spark ripped out than give away the location of his leader.

Ratchet's death was by far the most effective I thought. And although I hated to see him go (always one of my fav characters since G1 "Warrior School") I thought it was vary nicely handled and meaningful and they had him killed by the awesome Lockdown paying homage I think to that rivalry in Transformers Animated.

Whether it is justified or not, i think an Autobot death would be more effective if they didn't fight back. By killing humans they also gave the bad guys video footage to use against them.

    - I can understand Leadfoot fighting back - but if he's going to fight then don't have him pleading for the humans to stop. Have him go down defending himself.
    - Ratchet's definitely would have worked better if it was a straight-up slaughter where he chooses not to fight and just tries to run away, only to get his legs blown off and then he is just too wounded to fight back against Lockdown - making his final words more meaningful

Again, there is absolutely ZERO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that Ratchet, Leadfoot, or Optimus EVER killed a human...with the obvious exception of Attinger, of course.

Also, you basically just described exactly what DID happen to Ratchet, lol.

Almost all the Autobots that got killed made me sad even more so for ratchet, then ironhide.

I did not feel anything for Seintinal Prime.
