This was a really good tie-in to OMAC. Didn't hear about part 3 being sold out though.

August 2, 2005: DC Sends 4-Part “Sacrifice” Story Back to Press

WONDER WOMAN #219, featuring the shocking finale of the 4-part "Sacrifice" storyline, is now sold out at DC Comics, joining the sold-out SUPERMAN #219 and ACTION COMICS #829 as well as the nearly sold out ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #642.

Now, DC rushes all four parts of this cataclysmic story back to press for second printings, starting with WONDER WOMAN #219 Second Printing. Along with the story written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Rags Morales, David Lopez, Tom Derenick, Georges Jeanty, Karl Kerschl and others, this printing features a new cover by Ladrönn plus two pages summarizing the events of the first three chapters with art from those issues.

DC also offers the SUPERMAN #219 Second Printing, ACTION COMICS #829 Second Printing and ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #642 Second Printing. DC will confirm in-store dates and cover information on these new printings soon.

"I'm overjoyed that DC is going back to press so quickly not only on WONDER WOMAN #219 but on the other 'Sacrifice' chapters as well," says Rucka. July 27, 2005: Parts 1 & 2 of Superman “Sacrifice” Storyline Sold Out at DC

SUPERMAN #219 and ACTION COMICS #829 the first two parts of the cataclysmic 4-part "Sacrifice" storyline, are now sold out at DC Comics.

SUPERMAN #219, written by Mark Verheiden and illustrated by Ed Benes, sold out one week after arriving in stores on arriving in stores on July 7; ACTION COMICS #829, written by Gail Simone and illustrated by John Byrne & Nelson, sold out two weeks after arriving in stores on July 13.

"We always thought the Sacrifice storyline would raise a few eyebrows, but it's great to see the fans responding so strongly," says Verheiden. "Writing SUPERMAN has been a thrill, a challenge and 'pinch me, I'm dreaming!' fun all at the same time, and a lot of credit for this success goes to the great creative teams who worked so hard to make Sacrifice come together. Ed Benes' art is flat-out spectacular, writers Greg Rucka and Gail Simone are great partners in crime, and Editor Eddie Berganza and DC honcho Dan DiDio couldn't have been more supportive. And the best is yet to come!"

The only one with a new cover (not recoloured) is Wonder Woman #219... and yet it comes out before the previous 3 parts...

With a new printing of WONDER WOMAN #219 - the stunning finale to the 4-part story "Sacrifice" - due to arrive in stores on August 17, DC Comics reveals the in-store dates and cover information on the new printings of SUPERMAN #219, ACTION COMICS #829 and ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #642. These issues feature the first three chapters of "Sacrifice."

SUPERMAN #219 Second Printing, ACTION COMICS #829 Second Printing and ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #642 are scheduled to arrive in stores on August 31. Each features its original cover illustration, recolored in red tones.

All four new printings of the "Sacrifice" storyline may be ordered as follows:

SUPERMAN #219 (JUN058177) is available for order now and is scheduled to arrive in stores on August 31.

ACTION COMICS #829 (JUN058175) is available for order now and is scheduled to arrive in stores on August 31.

ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #642 (JUN058176) is available for order now and is scheduled to arrive in stores on August 31.

WONDER WOMAN #219 (JUN058155) features a new cover by Ladrönn. It is available for advance reorder and is scheduled to arrive in stores on August 17.

I still think DC is under-printing so they can say "SOLD OUT" and then turn around and release a press release like that with "second printings" that have more stuff to them.

Oh well, so it generates some press and sells a few more copies. Is that really so bad?
