    No worries mate:)

I got a set earlier in the year and they really make a huge difference. I'm not sure what I did putting them back together with the upgrade kit though as one doesn't work as well as it did before.

Could the ratchet be put in backwards? Emgo did it in his build and had to take the leg apart to fix it.

So I finally finished my kit and added some custom hands from the KFC Mp-10 hands. Modified the rifle so it plugs into the hands.

Am also halfway done with his minions. Just have to finish painting Ironhide and Trailbreaker, wait for the PE CW Prime hand and feet kit to arrive and I will finally be able to combine him into a giant Prime :D

I finally put this together! I brought my six-year-old son in to watch the process. Normally he is fascinated by any kind of disassemble/reassemble construction, but he got a little lost in all the screws & ratchet pieces. He had fun attaching the parts that just clicked on, though.

Mushroom peg at the waist is hella loose. Also need to get those Nonnef ratchet upgrades for the legs! I've been thread surfing looking for the US store for Nonnef--anyone have the link handy?

I build mine a week or so ago and I love how this figure looks now. Now, not all is happiness he is way looser than before and I had an issue with one of the screws from the waist piece, the screw broke in half while I was tightening it so I had to shave the whole part of the waist and use small pliers to try and remove the broken screw. Luckily for me I got it out but I cannot disassemble that piece anymore. I bought a white prime to use the beelzeboss kit if it comes out in this century. The only thing I can say is to be very careful with this kit.

Do you have a tutoril of how you did that? Just shave Prime's hands down to mushroom-like pegs?

No sorry I didn't think of doing a tutorial but I can tell you how I did it. Can also post some pics tonight when I get home from work as the arms are hell easy to take apart. :thumb

I didn't mod Prime's original hands. They are still intact (in case I wanted to revert to the old ones). Jtotheiso187 who originally did the mod with the KFC hands did shave his Prime hands down and then attached a screw that would fit the KFC hands. He advised against it cause it meant you destroyed the original hands and risk having to get a second CW Prime if anything went wrong.

He suggested I scratch build a new part to attach the KFC hands. Which is what I did using Styrene. I used a Styrene tube as the pivot piece to connect to the arm and then chemical welded a rectangular Styrene sheet (2mm thickness) to the tube. You can see the part in blue in the pic.

I then sacrificed the hip ball pegs from a junker Beast Hunter Bumblebee and chemical welded the ball peg to the Styrene sheet. I then had to do a lot of shaving and testing to ensure the fit was good. I also had to shave some plastic off the KFC port to accommodate the ball peg but not much.

Last step was to glue a small piece of Styrene to the SND Prime gun handle to allow it to peg into the KFC Hands. The gun that came with the KFC hands can't fit this prime due to the way the arms are designed.

I should note that because the KFC hands are larger, there is little to no clearance in truck mode. So rather than force things together I just pop the hands off. But I don't really ever display him in truck mode so was not bothered about parts-forming.

It'll prob make more sense with pics so I will post some later.

That makes sense. Seems like having them be a ball jointed wrist is the easiest solution.

The original hands don't have a huge amount of plastic but if you cut very carefully there should still be enough plastic left to attach a screw/ball peg.

Then just fill all the unsightly gaps from where you cut the hand off, paint and attach the new hands.

Certainly a lot quicker than a scratch build.

    O
OR just get some CW ports from shapeways and attach the kfc hands to those.

Do you have a link? I checked shapeways out myself for ports to attach hands to, but only found extenders or fillers. :(

Should be able to use the filler pieces I'd think , just have to drill a hole into them and shave the mushroom end of the hands down into a 5mm peg. Think I'll have to look into that . . .

On another note . . . I think the 2 SND upgraded Primes I have right now really got to me, because I'm seriously considering replacing MP-10 in my Detolf with one of the SND Primes for my MP display. I'm digging this figure that much. Yeah yeah, blasphemy, I know... Lol =)

Just transformed it back to bot, having finally got it into a really tight, solid feeling alt-mode for the first time. The red paint over prime's left window-pec was chipped. :(

Wow! That looks really cool! How stable is he? And is that the original CW Prime head under the SND head?

Can you post a pic using the regular SND Prime head for the combiner? The new one just looks much to big to me, while the normal head looks about or near the same size as the Optimus Maximus one.

This thing needs new hands in the worst way. The Hasbro ones are all chewed up on the knuckles and paint is stripped. Plus, you need to swivel them out of the way to get everything to secure correctly. I'm stressing the side panels on his arms forcing things to go as they're supposed to.

    New hands, stat!

So agree with you. Wasn't SND planning on having hands for this thing as a separate release?

I wanted to make a separate comment about the figure itself after owning two of them. I love this damned figure to death! I cannot express just how cool this kit is! It hits all the right notes, I have to say, and am so glad I bought this. CW Optimus is by far one of the most ugliest renditions of prime to date, so to have a kit that completely improves upon it is miraculous, and I love it for the super 180 it does for the figure.

The big con for me, the combined mode is a huge problem, although I should think of it more as a bonus. I spent over $250 to realize this bonus (New CW Prime, SND Kit, 4x combiner limbs, PE PC-08 Kit, 2x aerialbots limbs). Because of the increased height and weak crotch ratchets (not the hips, the actual crotch), it makes it even harder to stand for poses. It was really frustrating. Maxxzander has that cool setup using OG CW Prime with PC-08 and the SND head and it looked really cool. I tried it with a Battle Core Prime and limbs (Note: I've never owned CW limbs until now) and was surprised to find it much more stable compared to the SND version, with the crotch/back piece being a key component in its stability (the con - limited posability). If SND could have addressed this with their own hip brace and possibly better feet than PE PC-xx, this would have made it perfect in my eyes.

Maybe with the supposed upcoming hands, they can come up with a hip brace and feet? Wishful thinking?
