Well that depends. If Hideko Anno is not his thing, he might not like Shin Godzilla as it is an Anno movie first, a Godzilla movie second. It might be gorgeous from a cinematography point of view, but it's story leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, Godzilla himself is ugly. I'm not talking about the design, I mean the CGI used. It looks like a PS4 model inserted into live action. It's ugly. Even the dentistry scene was full of really bad looking CGI.

    With that said,
YES, the image with the blast attacks IS in the movie. Godzilla's tail can shoot lasers just like his spines. However, the beam from those looks more like Gyaos' beam from the Gamera Kaneko trilogy than the Rodan blast.

The creature design is terrible, and no wonderful story or camera work can cover that.

    Yeah, it just looks unappealing.
    Oh well.

I got a payment request from HLJ for mine. Seems like I just paid for Kou Kyou Kyoku. Geez Bandai can't you pace these out better.

To those who have both Bandai and NECA 1954 and GMK Godzillas, which ones are better?

I think he looks very impressive. This makes me wish more that he wasn't a Japan exclusive.

    Also
Yeah that tail thing did happen in the movie.

Shin Godzilla not looking appealing is actually the point though. He isn't meant to look majestic like the other versions but rather like a victim of radiation and mutation and the design he has perfectly reflects that. I understand it's not going to be for everyone but still this is something that sets Shin Godzilla apart from the other Gojis in a good way and I'm glad Toho decided to do something different with him design wise. Looking terrible and looking objectively bad aren't always the same thing.

For the '54 figures, the NECA is charming in a Ray-Harryhausen-esque kind of way, but I prefer the MonsterArts version by far. I'm happy to display both, though.
As far as the GMK figures, I never ended up buying the NECA one. I had the package in-hand, looked the figure over...HARD pass. I find the MonsterArts version to be worth the extra $50.

I got my UBG yesterday and worry about opening it up with all the reports of bad QC. Just opened it and was surprisingly impressed. The paint work is not prefect but much better than expect!

Some sloppy paint. Misaligned Derp eyes, and the occasional detached joints straight out of the box.

He's a web exclusive and Bluefin can not release him, so I'm not going to bother.

It's a bit small compared to the other SHMA's, but it scales really well to the Revoltech Showa monsters. So if you have the Anguirus, Baragon or Gigan he is perfect with them.

Not yet, I have it sitting in my BBTS loot. It certainly is my favorite suit, same suit as Ghidorah 3-headed monster, 1985 is one of my faves too. I was going to get the original 1964 figure, but waited to long... now it goes for high secondary market prices. I think I will still like the emergence deco though.
