He was neon green in Megaguirus with pink fins, not 2000.
He doesn't look like 80s. More like Millenium godzilla
You're acting like there's some MASSIVE disconnect between Godzillas over the ages. It makes me laugh, as someone who's far more casual with big G, to see fans call a design TERRIBLE when it's virtually identical to the standard, with minor proportion tweaks.
Really, when you compare Godzilla designs and how they've evolved verses, say, Optimus Prime over the years, Godzilla has remained shockingly faithful to the original concept. Modern versions aren't so much redesigns as simply the original idea with the technology of that time. 2014 Godzilla looks just like Godzilla should. The most RADICAL departure is his feet, which are a little nubbier to look more realistic. But, like, his tail? His spikes? His posture? His head? All very traditional. Maybe the head is a bit more like an actual lizard and less like the cookie monster. But again, I hesitate to call that a redesign so much as just something that comes with the age of technology. We typically want to make stuff match real life if the goal is to make it seem realistic. 2014 Godzilla is no more a departure from Godzillas before as, say, 2000 was from the 90's version. In fact, Legendary Godzilla is almost like the ULTIMATE Godzilla, taking inspiration from EVERY version.
It's just hilarious to see such bellyaching over the TINIEST of things when TF fans now have an Optimus who has almost no indication that he turns into a truck in his robot mode design, and are actually generally positive about it. Perspective, people.
I like guys in rubber suits acting like giant monsters. That is my only reservation about Godzilla 2014. Other than that it looks to be pretty good. The design is a bit of a change but still well within the acceptable look for me. Where are our monsterarts 2014? it would be useful to see for my purchasing decisions.
Im just saying lol....either way I love it
Damn it all. Checked amazon randomly and saw that the alien warrior was $37.50, but I decided to watch a review first. Five minutes later it was back up to $48.
The wait to buy continues. Shouldn't have hesitated.
They're re-releasing G94... sorta.
Import Monsters: Import Monster News Flash: S.H Monsterarts Godzilla ( 1994 2.0?) bound for July!
It looks like they repainted the Burning Godzilla mold in G94 colors. Interesting. So we have a G94 2.0 and NECA's own G94 coming out. Hm...
Isn't that we asked for? We did like the improvements Burning Godzilla had over the original and we did wish for it to be repainted to a normal Godzilla, and here we are. We will get what we wanted.
Might actually get that mold now that I'm not forced to look at that awful mismatching tail.
That's actually suit accurate. Even the old vinyl toy had the same colors.
Oh I'm aware. Doesn't change the fact that its an awful design choice.
Finally gonna buy this guy. With all the renewal figures Bandai does, I knew this would be an eventuality.
I wished they would have just done a Godzilla 89/91 instead...
I just hope that isn't taking the place of us getting a different monster during that release period.
We are getting new figures this summer. Gigan and 2014 Godzilla are on the way.
Glad to know that the people who missed out on the first release of the 94 Goji figure now have a second chance at it. Not to mention that it has the same improvements that the Burning Godzilla mold has too. Though I'd suspect that it won't come with the atomic breath accessory that the first release has.
Gigan is next month along with Mothra, before summer. And I mean non-Godzilla figures like showa MechaG, Anguirus, King Ceasar, etc.
Yes, bring on Showa's megalon, titanosaurus, original gigan. But please let there still be hope for mecha king ghidorah!!!
....and every millennium kaiju
I didn't think the Burning Godzilla mold would get released in normal colors (which is partially why I grabbed Burning G in the first place), glad it is and I'll probably grab it.
Some more news came out on Toho Kingdom's web site about this release.
This Godzilla is
Godzilla Jr. in his fully grown adult form seen at the end of Godzilla vs Destoroyah, hence the lighter colored skin.
This will be coming with a beam effect.
This may be a new mold or possible retool.
Hi-res pics are coming soon...
