Yeah and the irony is that it fetches insane prices on the secondary market! I’m almost afraid to ask this but where exactly were the breakages? The arms? Legs?
Hold up, he's worth a lot on the secondary market? Last time I tried I couldn't even get $50 for him. As for the breakage, mine occured in the bicep area where the lower and upper arm joints connect to allow the elbow bend.
I might try that again then, though I just learned ebay now charges buyers tax which is complete bullshit because the tax was paid for when the sellers bought those items initially.
I agree but eBay is also trying to be like Amazon and wants tons of pro sellers selling new items, despite all their ads and stuff just talking about people getting old junk in their house. And yeah for that Monsterarts Kong, I've seen sealed ones go for like $200+. I totally passed on it when it was out, but it's crazy.
Yup, not just ebay but in my country and neighbouring countries too. Thanks for the heads up on Kong...so wary to check it now... Same...Kong was a poor seller in my country too...went as low as $40...if I remembered correctly. Its a pity because it really is a nice figure. The sculpt, paint job and articulation are pretty good.
I would consider the comments here about the figure and watch a YouTube review or two on it. I'm inclined to say that you know what you are getting, so yes. But since you don't have any MonsterArts figures I also want to say that KotM Ghidorah is not really representative of past releases. MonsterArts are expensive, but usually for the money you get detailed paint and accessories. With King Ghidorah you get nothing. And you certainly have to be delicate with other figures, but nothing to this degree. The entire MonsterArts line are all "Posable Statues" in my consideration, but Ghidorah takes lots of patience. You won't really be able to say, pick him up, change the pose and set him back down. Any adjustment is an endeavor. And keep in mind, the three stands may keep him upright, but they also limit what you can do with him. I'm able to get some poses with just the wing stands, but he leans forward without the transparent diaper. As others have said I really don't know what MonsterArts wants to do anymore. They don't seem to want to revisit the figures they haven't done and the quality of the KotM offerings is certainly in decline; I'm speaking specifically of King Ghidorah and the terrible, TERRIBLE Mothra. When NECA announced that they have access to all of Toho's catalog I was hoping to see Godzilla 2000, and ANY of Godzilla's foes. Any. Single. Monster. I don't know what's going on with them, but I imagine they'll do a couple more Godzilla versions and call it quits. Regarding all of this talk of Kong, I want to say that the Mezco Kong is an excellent figure. It's not really based on any specific version of Kong in a movie, but it's obviously King Kong. The leg articulation is lacking, but it's a good figure at a great price. It "sort of" scales with the NECA and MonsterArts lines. I think he's just a little too big, but not out of place.
That picture is hilarious. Can i see some more pics of that Kong and everything that comes with him when you have time? no rush.
I have Kong too and think he's terrific. I think it was supposed to be based on a cartoon called Kong Skull Island, but I don't think it ever came out? He comes with 3 faces, a few different hands, shackles, and Anne/small female. There's a PX version that's black and white that comes with some bones too.
Isn't the only American originating monster they have done the Alien "Big Chap"? And related to that, did they suddenly re-release that one? Because I've seen it back on actual store shelves this month? A place in my Mall has 3 of them. I think part of it was it was based on the Peter Jackson Kong. So much more natural Gorilla. The figure is mainly hunched over knuckle standing. You can't get the dynamic poses you want out of it. It just seemed out of place in the SHMA line.
I'm considering gett neca 94 and 95 Godzilla along with SH Monsterarts KOTM Godzilla. what are your thoughts on the neca 94/95 Mold? And where can you buy SH-Monsterarts and NECA Godzilla figures at retailers in Florida?
I'm not a fan of the NECA Space Godzilla, I think the sculpt is bad and super glossy paint job that doesn't look good.
