Based on this brand new video I really don't see why anyone would want the MonsterArts revs of Rodan and Mothra over NECA.
They are double the price and ostensibly look worse.
Mothra is the wrong color and Rodan is missing any type of paint to make him look like he has anything to do with the element of fire at all -something the NECA rev does perfectly.
I don't get it, Bandai. I don't get it at all.

Rodan also trades wing articulation for leg articulation.

Which could be a plus in its favor -if it didn't completely lack any aspect of fire.
It's like Bandai was trying to go for an updated Heisei Rodan instead of Legendary Rodan.

You get that impression from Ghidorah as well, a little. That it's Legendary Ghidorah in Showa colors.

I don’t get that impression at all. SHMA Ghidorah isn’t metallic enough to look anything like Showa Ghidorah. Like, it’s kinda too honey mustard to the more traditional gold or the bright metallic gold of the Special Color Version (only Ghidorah I’m missing...).

I dont own the 2019 KG. I wish a more forgiving plastic was used on the wings. Some thing that would allow for some kind of articulation. That way the wings could collapse / bend down. just seems like waste.

Of course, that would also mean losing out on buildings and effects pieces.

Bandai was stuck in a no-win situation with the wings, really, because the design is not figure-friendly at all. Everyone justifiably did not want wings that could break, but also a lot of people complained about the Destoroyah wing design. Hollow, rigid wings and stands for extra support is not my ideal eithet but I’m at least satisfied that I CAN pose it freely if I want. If nothing else, another pair of wings in the wyvern stance would be cool.

I opened my King Ghidorah last night and I have never been more disappointed in a toy purchase.

I understand the design is not figure-friendly -I get it.
But I did not know that the figure would be hard to stand -with the stands!
I can't believe Bandai made each wing heavier than the main body.
And the middle stand that makes King Ghidorah look like he's wearing a translucent diaper really interferes with where you can place his feet.
So it's difficult to find a position where the feet and the middle stand can work in tandem to provide support.

But that's not even the main problem.
The problem with mine is that the right tail will not stay attached.
The ball joint where the consumer is supposed to attach the tail to the main body pops off as you try to pose it, but the segment two pieces down just will not stay together. Ever.
The pieces were apart in the plastic tray of the package. I didn't worry at all when I saw that.
But then I had a terrible time putting them together. And when I finally did it immediately popped apart again.
Once the pieces are connected you can not bend the connection at all. It will immediately pop off.
I left the tail assembled and straight on the figure for about 20 minutes and I heard it pop apart and fall off.
It literally just will not attach to the figure.

So, for $180 I got a King Ghidorah that has heavy wings that fall right off the figure and are mostly unposable.
The legs can't really get dynamic poses because the middle stand interferes with it.
You have to be very careful posing the necks because you might slightly slide one of the stands and make the heavy wings fall forward.
Very little paint. No energy beams or accessories of any kind.
    -But everyone got that.
I also have the bonus of having one tail that won't stay on.

That sucks, but the tail issue should be fixable with the use of heat. My Heisei Ghidorah was like sixty bucks on eBay because the seller thought it was doomed to never have a neck attached. I heated up the socket and popped it together, letting it cool, and it never popped out again.

I’ve gotten the hang of it but the diaper stand is definitely the worst of the three.

    Thank you.
I did use a blow dryer and it does make it easier to put the pieces together.
However, they have to be in a straight pose when they go together, and although the heat makes it easier to attach them straight, they immediately pop out when you try to pose the tail.
And the second segment will eventually pop off on its own, even if it has been left straight.

Yeah. I have an email in to BBTS where I bought it to see what they can do.

That sounds particularly stubborn, like the cup was warped or the wrong barbell was used for the segment. Hopefully an entirely new figure as replacement will fix that up.

    Update:

I took a blow dryer to the segments of the tail that would not stay together.
I heated it up far longer than I have ever heated up stubborn connections on toys before.
Then I connected them. Once they were connected I ran the blow dryer over the connected pieces.
I was then able to actually pose the joints.

I put Ghidorah in a pose and expected to come in the room the next morning and see the tail on the ground.
It's been two days now and the tail is still in place.
    I think I'm good.

    Thanks. Me too! :)

I will say that BBTS was communicating with me and they did appear to want to make things right.
There's no need to now though.
