The Neca version looks a little too goofy TBH, I find the Monsterarts version to be less so. Granted the film suit is funny already but Neca's rendition is a bit cookie-monsterish. Plus they're comparable in size. Unfortunately my favorite suit design (1964) is a smaller figure in the monsterarts line. If Neca nail a 1964 version they will be my saints.
I got the neca Mothra on Friday and it is honestly worth it the painting is way better than the Godzilla plus its cool that they made the wings transparent. Plus I thought it always looked better so I have no need the SHMA version.
Are we talking about the same figure? I'm not seeing a "Cookie Monster-ish" appearance with the 2019 version. The Kong version on the other hand... Man, that one's pure Muppet.
S.H.モンスターアーツ ゴジラ (2019) レビュー : はっちゃか Still having these bloody teeth, I see. Also, it is smaller than the 2014 version?
If I recall, the 2014 SHF wasn't made using the finished design so the proportions are a bit off. Most of the height loss in the new figure seems to come from the neck and head, which are both smaller (and presumably more accurate).
So SHM Godzilla: King of Monsters arrived today. He pretty much has the same pluses and minuses you come to expect with Monsterarts: the sculpt is fantastic at the cost of the articulation. The paint is basically entirely in dark grey, as it should be. To achieve this look with the effect part you have to swap out his lower jaw. I would have prefer a whole separate head but it's not a deal breaker. The head movement is not restricted enough where is a hassle to get his head in the appropriate position. So that's nice. The eyes, teeth and tongue are decently painted considering how small those bits actually are. Once again Bandai does a great job with the sculpt, it is nice and crisp with lots of molded detail throughout the whole figure. Posability is rather lacking as is typical with SHM. Though the head can move up and down very well the left and right movement is somewhat limited. And virtually no outward movement with the shoulders and the arms only go as how as seen in the above image. So if you need Godzilla to give a handshake to your other figures that is totally within his wheelhouse. I will say that the hips do move freely and decent amount of movement at the knees and ankles but I do wish the tail had more articulation. Final thoughts: It's a fairly standard Godzilla release from SH Monsterarts. If you're happy with SHM Godzillas than you should be happy with this release. If you have the 2014 Godzilla and were on the fence about the 2019. I probably would pass on this figure.
Was that ever in any doubt? I'm sure they'll make another spitfire, and poster versions for this figure as well. Spoiler I wouldn't doubt they make a version of ghidorah with a missing head either....
Spoiler: Ghidorah SHM Toys If the new Ghidorah toy is anything like the old ones, it already has removable heads with multiple options for detach points. Hmmm....pics to come.
So if the beam on the 2019 figure supposed to be slightly bent like this at the tip or is mine just a qc issue? Gonna be straightening it soon either way just curious.
Bandai has the Final wars Godzilla suit at Tamashii Nations Tokyo and I think this may be a hint to that anonymous tease.
DesuGoji, check. SokogekiGoji, check. ShinGoji, check. MosuGoji, check. KinGoji, check. FinalGoji, CHECK! Now all I need is BioGoji, and I think I'm free & clear, huzzah!
BBTS has a two-pack of Rodan and Mothra from KotF up for $104. Does anyone know if Rodan has bendable wings? I'd be interested if the wings aren't just straight so he can be posted doing the barrel roll. If they're fixed straight out then it's no deal.
