Not dead. Bandai's not going to stop when there's going to be a wonderfully massive amount of Big G goodness dropping in the next couple of years. Unless they don't like money (always possible).
The body looks fine to me, but there's something about the head that seems off. I think maybe the neck's too long, or the head's a little too small, or both. I love the burning fist and the accessories to put him in flight mode, though. I have the X-Plus vinyl figure from 2002, the original Kaiyodo figure from when the movie was in theaters, AND also the 2 foot tall "Big Gamera" Bandai vinyl, so I might get this someday if it doesn't go up in price too much.
The neck is too long, the nose is not point enough, his eyes are too wide. Gamera in that film looked like a mean old turtle who got the wrong medication in his cup. The figure looks nothing like that.
One of the best batches of toys I’ve received in a while. Kiryu is the Mechagodzilla I’ve been wanting to get for years! Love it!
Picked up Gamera 99 from Manda but the shipping ... it still came out to less than retail but not as great a savings.
Some more pics of Mothra off of Twitter. I'd like to see how the arms hang in flight before I give an opinion on the design. The longer limbs serve to draw parallels to the MUTOs while also giving Mothra something else to do in battle besides blow wind and throw scales (which is already a last resort). The head is cool though.
They're cool, I guess. I wish I could be more excited, but after Kiryu Godzilla my enthusiasm has gone bye bye. I'm more excited to see how NECA's versions are going to pan out. I must say though, the Ghidorah and Rodan designs look pretty cool from the small images I've seen.
I've seen Ghidorah, and.... I think I'll wait and see what NECA does with this one. If you need support for the wings, it's not a good sign.
I think people are just excited about the designs finally appearing. Though you raise a good point, the last Legendary MotnserArts figure wasn't completely accurate, I wonder if there are any little discrepancies here. In particular, Ghidorah's legs being so much smaller than his necks suggests that he doesn't land very often, if that's the final version in the film.
I won’t worry too much about it because the stands are being used as a preventative measure of it falling over. But it does come to mind that the first King G had some minor QC issues with the wings. Yeah man! I’m going to get G and KG at the very least!
Same I like how they look, but three supports for Ghidorah make me think Bandai's take on the design might be too heavy.
