RYAN REYNOLDS in Talks to Lead DRAGON'S LAIR Movie - Report I want Princess Daphne in the same outfit from the games. Though a animated version might be better
There are plans from Bluth studios to actually make a Dragon's Lair animated movie that was supported by Kickstarter.
My opinion of the film is directly proportional to how accurate Princess Daphne is, so I don't have real high hopes for a live-action version, but keeping a open mind.
It definetly can, but given modern attitudes, I don't think they will, and the funniest part is I can't even blame them. They'd have to be either really good with the writing and execution or just really lucky to not get chewed out by critics and social media if they tried. It's a different world, and I've learned to accept it a long time ago, even if I disagree with parts.
How disappointing. (Okay yes I'm basically just using this thread as an excuse to post pics of Daphne)
I dunno how they are gonna make this interesting. The game basically has a barebones plot of a super-fast paced dungeon crawler. There was an animated series that was also just your run of the mill fantasy show with villains who always died at the end of an episode. The characters were simply, not very interesting. I doubt anyone would remember this game today if it wasn't for the Don Bluth animation, and -as you all can see above in the images - all the fanart and R34 of the epic cleavage and legs of the princess. Let's be honest and admit that is mainly what you remember from the game... In 2020? You can already bet she will have a very reserved attire and not show an ounce of skin at all.
If it's live action. I'll lose a lot of interest in it. I wonder if they are going to make this into an interactive movie. They have the technology for it and have used it on specials for shows like Adventures of Puss in Boots, Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, Black Mirror, and most recently, Carmen Sandiego.
I'm shocked that it didn't succeed given that not only are the people behind the original game is doing it but also that people would do anything to see more 2D movies aside from anime be mainstream again. You'd think it would've hit it's goals faster then you can say replay value. Hey man no issues seeing more pics of Princess Daphne here.
As I recall their Kickstarter goals were very high and you didn't even get to see the movie or teaser at any teer. Also it was only small things like giving 5 or 10 bucks only got you digital wallpaper for your computer. I think $20 got you a keychain or something. It wasn't till $60 or higher that they offered anything tangable and unique to the kickstarter and compared to others paled in comparison. They didn't like Kickstarter's rules, I think it was doing poorly by that point, so they moved to indiegogo. I don't think they did much better there.
So it was a matter of them not thinking things through when it came to trying to convince people to donate? That makes sense and it's sad too. Had they offered things that have more benefit to them things could've been much different.
They've switched from doing an interactive TV series to doing a regular movie, from the sounds of it. 400 page script for the former. I could only imagine the budget needed for that...
