This is a very long read, but is also highly entertaining. Its like they were trying to make the worst movie possible and just couldnt quite seal the deal.

    http://www.agonybooth.com/forum/topic2730.htm

It would have been very sad had they cancelled smallville to produce that atrocity.

That whole debacle sounds like a Lovecraftian Nightmare within goatse.cx.

You know, I think I still have the AICN review of the Abrams Superman thing.

This funnier if you watched "An Evening with Kevin Smith." Kev talked about his run on the project and how f'ed up it was.

Though the comment that "Spider-Man and Daredevil will soon be forgotten since they are too close to the source material" is a classic! I'd rather have the true-to-the-source movie than a CRAPTACULAR HOLLYWOOD-IZED/TRAINWRECK PIECE OF SH*T THAT THOSE BASTARDS WERE GONNA DUMP ON US!

I found these earlier while trying to find conceptual images for Burton's Superman Lives... http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125321 and http://www.rolfmohr.com/SupermanLives.html have images proposed for Superman Lives, presumably around when Burton was involved.

    Here's Braniac:

Here's the Superman Interceptor, which I'm guessing is the souped-up Supermobile:

    Here's Superman:

By the way, Rolf Mohr's site also has designs for Beast Machines, too, but it's probably the images people have seen before. Feel free to look at them.

In that article, they described the suit as being like a combination of Edward Scissorhands, the Borg, and the armor-Batman movie suits. So yeah, you're not far off. I guess when he thought about it being a regeneration suit, it's like as if it was reanimating a corpse or something.

Come to think of it, the movie title "SUPERMAN LIVES!" makes me think of "[insert name of horror movie monster] LIVES!"

I can't seem to find the Mark Millar quote on his board anymore, but he said something like, "Every night I get on my knees and thank God for Bryan Singer."

    I could see why.

    What.......the........F*CK?!?!?!?!?!
"We are going to blow off 60 plus years of history and backstory, becuase we want to sell a Plastic armored Nick Cage figure?"
    HOLY SH*T!
Thank god Spider-Man, Batman Begins, and Hellboy showed that you can make a kick ass super hero movie that stays true to 80 to 95% of the history of the character. And honestly, besides being dated FX wise, whats wrong with Superman or Superman 2?

But if one certain part of the link is true, we have Nicholas Cage to thank for utterly delaying the Burton Superman from happening!

Also, I think it's funny that they tried to get Justin Timberlake to play the "gay Jimmy Olsen" (see: Abrams draft in that link) and then tried to get him to play Superman.

Come to think of it, I think I'd have been fine with the movies had Superman been in public domain or something.

Indeed. It always makes me wonder why people want to take a staple iconic character, then change everything about him. Why not just make your own movie about your own superhero?

Kind of makes me glad Captain Marvel and his universe are no longer so well known...

Y'know... this movie better be worth all the hassle they've gone through to make it. Let's just hope that they've taken the cue from Spider-man and Batman Begins and make it like it should be.

That whole read stuck with me on my hour-long drive to work today. Quite disturbing with what was going to happen. From what I understand, there was a major studio shake-up at the WB that led to changes in personnel that allowed for Singer's involvement now.

Unfortunately, the same kind of @$$-hatted thinking in that post seems to be going on now with X3 over at Fox.

Fox execs: "I know what'll let us afford to put more gas into our children's Hummers! Let's ramp up the sex and violence in X3!!! Kill off all of our good actors because they will just cost too much for more sequels! And for goodness sakes, get Halle Berry naked! It'll put us in Oscar contention!!!!!!!!!"

I almost wish the carp Burton esc version had gotten made, main so it would cost millions and then totally fail at the box office so some people might just get the idea that total morons should not be aloud to make movies about some thing they know nothing about.

    whats happeing with x3?

and i almost kinda wish it had been made too...to prove that point...but, we got catwoman...that should show some people not to change everything, and make it lamer...i remember when i first saw that preview, at spiderman i think...i dont remember...but i saw it, and right after it went silent, i said lame...and was with about 20 people (we almost filled one entire row in our theatre) and apparently i said lame really loud, cuz the whole theatre started cracking up....i finally saw the movie last night...and man....i dont know where to start....but anyway...if they are gonna make a superhero movie based off the comic, they should do that, and BASE it off the comic...not reinvent it...reinventing and making your own movie taking aspects of what you think is cool, then see how a movie does.....blah...end rant
