The natural crossover for Transformers is The Fast and the Furious. They're both franchises about cool cars where they do cool stunts and missions and shit, but with Transformers they're also cool robots. (Just like Vin Diesel.)

I wonder if they'd base it on a way toned down version of Scioli and Barber's TF vs. G.I. Joe with the Joe team invading Cybertron after a Decepticon attack.

Like I say, way toned down in some ways because the comic was trippy. Probably built on Bumblebee/RotB.

I can see the line of reasoning: Joe movies haven't worked and their toys haven't sold well. Meanwhile, Transformers movies have often featured military and government agents successfully and Transformers toys are a huge hit, one of the top toy brands on the planet.

So you do a Human Alliance style line with Joes and Cobra as the movie toy line, banking on Transformers to lift it up both at the box office and the toy aisle.

Rather than Snake Eyes' approach of building Joes individually in a shared Joe cinematic universe, you just dump all the Joes and Cobra on top of ROTB's foundation.

Cobra seeks to exploit the chaos caused by Unicron's arrival and Joe seeks to respond to the threat TFs represent.

I mean, given what Dom is up to these days you could easily model Joe/TF off that.

Throw Mask in while you're at it.

    Nah, slap away.

Sincerely, a guy who grew up with Inferno who was a fire ant.

This could work in the right hands but Paramount\'s track record isn\'t the best. I think they should take it slow.

"reliable" leaker or not, this is "he tell me" territory until there's a solid announcement from someone with the actual power to make it happen.

As much as I would think I'd want this to happen, with how Joe films have been so far, I really, really don't.

Honestly, back when they first announced the directors for the Joe's and TFs, I thought Bay should've directed GiJoe. But if the alternative is Transformers getting Stephen Sommers then I'm good with the timeline we got, warts and all.

GiJoe, even more than TFs, needs to get out of Zo's clutches. Maybe because of the expenses of the FX when it comes to TFs it seems the suits are more hands on and so Lorenzo gets overidden more. With the Joe's, it seems like he has free reign to do whatever and it shows.

Michael Bay already made Transformers meets GI Joe. Too bad they just didn’t have Hoe names.

Please let it be a full reboot. That is the only way to get me interested at this point. Leave Bay-verse in the dust and start fresh.

But will Bumblebee be in it? No way of knowing based on past movies.

I feel like the best time for that would've been after Retaliation, which was generally well-received for what it was and kept the franchise in public awareness. It would've also been after the Transformers "trilogy" had finished, which would've been a good place to introduce the crossover. Now, though... I can't see any real way to make it work. I guess we'll see how Rise of the Beasts does to gauge how much general audiences are still down for this kind of film, but the Snake Eyes movie seemingly came and went with zero fanfare or discussion.

I just don't think G.I.Joe is a marketable franchise anymore, at least not in any way that would be faithful to what it originally was. At best, you could do something like Mission: Impossible, but those movies are sustained entirely by excellent filmography and Tom Cruise, neither of which can be easily replicated. It's too silly and unrealistic to be a war movie, but it's also too military-themed to be a marketable action movie. You can't market it with patriotism, because then you'll alienate large audiences both domestically and overseas. I really think any space a good G.I.Joe series could fill is already being thoroughly occupied by the M:I and Fast and Furious films, so they're maybe better off just sitting on the IP until one of those franchises starts to falter.

Well it makes sense, neither has had a good movie and they clearly don't know what to do with each, so why not just throw them together? DOUBLE THE BOX OFFICE ZOMFG

Sadly they're very likely actually that stupid.

It'll just be a movie with super low-stake plot and "piu piu piu" sound FX and nobody dies...

the idea of seeing a HISS tank turn into a Decepticon is a big budget action scene is just exciting, I don't care what anyone else says that just sounds cool AF and is worth the price of admission alone.
