Can't understand the love for him lol.

 

I like dinosaurs and dragons and this looks like a dinosaur or a dragon crossed with a space shuttle. What's not to love?

Also, I like how the front of the shuttle turns into the face. It reminds me of how I (and countless other children I'm sure) imagined that if planes had faces, they would look like this. Cockpit is the eyes, the front cone is the nose - and then there's a mouth now too.

His unique and fun personality in the carton is just icing on the cake really.

 

This seems right to me. I’d like Sky Lynx to be a big boy - but once you toss the other Jetfire pieces on, I think he will be.

Maybe we’ll even see a mock-up Sky Lynx Made from Jetfire parts in a Hasbro post, similar to the Trypticon mock-up made from Titan (was it Metroplex?) pieces.

However, the Commander class could potentially be flexible in regards to pricing... which could lead to a bigger Sky Lynx.

 

P.S.
Anyone have any thoughts on Sky Lynx’s detachable hip-packs? You think he’s more of a modulator, or are those about it? (Besides him splitting into two modes).

 

I think it's probably just that, he's already got three modes and the almost dead certainty split monster mode as you say. Plenty going on.
One query that struck me earlier, Jetfire had some really neat little engineering tricks so I wonder if skylynx will have some kind of cockpit Windows to eyes gimmick or similar.

 

Filling threads with scale arguments is killing the enjoyment.

Agreed. I think we’ll at least see some cool little panels and what-not for both shuttle and base-mode. The lynx head could also be surprising in its transformation.

In regard to the hip-packs, take a look at the leaked image. He has them on his hips in shuttle and dragon-mode - then they detach and peg into the upturned feet in base-mode  

 

So Jetfire had armor parts and big blast effects packaged with him. Will Sky-Lynx come with similar accessories, or is it more probable that he'll be bigger and come without any accessories to balance out the cost?

 

I think his hip-packs are the only spotted accessories at the moment. But there could be more depending on scale/pricing.

Honestly this is a figure I’ve been waiting a good while for (obviously) and I’m pretty darn excited. Can’t wait to see what other mysteries he hides.

Well the german toyfair is happening right now

Hoping someone is there with a report of what is on display.

 

I could see the Shuttle being a traditional transforming bot, and that blue box/lynx being a battle station type partsformer. He has a Lynx mode, but he can also break up to be a launchpad. Since the original Lynx was just a blue box with legs, there's a ton of wiggle room with how he could take on a third mode. All they need is a yellow head in the chest area and a tail that folds out in the rear. The legs in G1 just folded up and hung off the sides, so there's no need to get fancy with those...they could just pop off.

The other thing that is worth pointing out...it'd fit in with how Jetfire was a big robot, but also came with his own kit of COMBAT armor. You'd have Skylynx as a big figure, and he'd have his own modular battle station included.

That would also fit with the previous discussion about how the next commander would "complement Omega." If he can break down like Ironworks, those individual components would be soemthing you could combine with Omega to expand his city form.

Also, my dream would be that portions of the Lynx have CW pegs on them. Would be kinda funny if you could combine it with both the big shuttle here...or the voyager torso from CW.

 

Maybe it will be the German Bald Head Guy.

It would be also cool if you can put a titanmaster in his cockpit, just like Jetfire. Also it feels like his base mode will be the closest thing we probably will get, to Countdown's rocket base.

 

I'm not a huge fan of how the MP version looks and I'd like a more toy-ish model as I got the impression MP figs are more fragile. I'm also not so fussed about if a figure is CHUG or not, it's entirely down to if I think a figure looks cool or not. I just think a Star Saber in Siege style detailing would look awesome  

Despite what I said earlier I am tempted by Jetfire, or more specifically his armoured self though  

 

Dude, get Jetfire. Only TF I’ve had scince I was a kid was the Predaking rerelease from Amazon I got several years ago. Saw the new Jetfire back in December bought him instantly and then proceeded to go crazy buying most of the Seige stuff. Long story short my wallet now hates me and my wife hates me slightly more than my wallet. I have no regrets. Lol.

 

On the contrary...Astrotrain gained a launchpad, now Sky Lynx gets a launch pad. Along with that, our first Siege Titan was a rocket base.

So I'd say there's pretty good odds Countdown could still happen. As a titan. And I bet with what we're seeing from these modular battle stations...Hasbro/Takara wouldn't hesitate to make him a *big* one, with a new bot mode included.
