lynx, space dragon and combined sky lynx mode are technically robot modes for sky lynx, not alt modes. so saying he has two alt modes (shuttle/box and base) would technically be accurate

May I ask how you figure that means 100% Sky Lynx?

Sky Lynx technically has 4 modes, combined vehicle, Combined Beast, Lynx, Sky and if theres a base mode 5 modes, Hasbro used similar counting for TR Overlord and Sky Shadow although they counted them as 4 on box I believe etc

Well, to be fair @catz said Friday that it only had 2 alt modes, now 3. And also, no way they'll do that much. And it said 3 alternate modes. So you are correct, I highlighted it bold.

Sky Lynx is a naff figure too. Lack of robot mode has always made him niche. Worse than trypticon and that spent months on clearance at £50-£60.

I think sky lynx is a big risk at this price point. Took amazon clearing jetfire at £50 for 2 weeks recently to shift stock of that.

I remember the G1 sky lynx reissue hanging around for ages.

Just to be clear though, based on the clues it does sound like sky lynx is the next figure.

I years ago would have thought it possible they would merge Sky Lynx with Galaxy Shuttle, Sky Lynx with all legacy modes but with an additional combined robot mode reminiscent of Galaxy Shuttles robot mode but I envisioned that at Titan Class, I doubt they'd do that now especially if it's a Commander Class the gram range of Jetfire.

I dont think CW SL amazon listing is a good measure of anything. Thinking of their primary target demographic of 10 year old boys, they generally love space Shuttles, especially big ones, among the secondary target demographic of adult collectors, I dont think their will be an issue, Commander and Titan are a far more limited production as compared to Leader, Voyager, Deluxe etc. Hasbro has a whole marketing and financial department keyed to these things and they are all far more educated than us, I'm sure they weighed everything out to ensure a reasonable profit margin. Ultimately besides direct consumer purchase, its the stores that buy them, then the stores sell them, anything left is clearanced, Hasbro will make their money

I stand corrected though, I meant to say the commander 2nd alt mode is a base mode ;)

It's obviously Omega Spreem with an added base mode.

(Hey, maybe I can speak it into existence.)

So 1 alt mode and a 2nd alt mode that is a base for 3 total modes, doesn't sound like Sky Lynx to me

....I'm going a crazy route with this. What if it's Grandus? His vehicle mode could have a spot to add OS's rocket arm on it to homage Countdown's mobile base. He has a second alt mode that is a standard base, and I could see it all complementing OS very well.

Also wouldn't be the first time Hasbro pulled a left-field idea onto the table, with Lio/Deathkaiser being a perfect example. Maybe even Takara themselves made requests for it? I dunno, but I like this idea, too.

I've bren saying for a while Hasbro would potentially leverage the hollowness of Lynx's blue box "alt mode" to turn him into a fold out base and launch pad.

Think the new Astrotrain, but fancier.

The lynx alt mode is called the cat box. Someone's wife coined that in the MMC thread.

And yes, it could be straightforward to utilize the simplicity of the cat box alt mode to make a MM base/launchpad

And since it's just a big blue brick in alt-mode, it'd likely already be mostly hollow to optimize materials usage for the rest of the figure.

So why not crack that bad boy open and have some molded base stuff inside?

Or, and I'm stretching but imagine...the Catbox is a modular Battle station with cat, box, base, and perhaps a brute mode with the Dragon. Similar to how Jetfire had armor.

@catz Is the Commander with the base mode different than the Commander that compliments Omega Supreme?

Oh, but it still could be Sky Lynx. First alternate mode is shuttle and second is base mode.

Yes but realistically it's the collectors and fans that represent a fraction of the market. Furthermore its a subset of the fanbase.

As toys, sky lynx and trypticon always remind me of that Tom Hanks scene in Big where he is dissing the skyscraper robot, and asking where is the fun in it. Siege Omega and Jetfire are shelf warming in the UK now collectors have it as a tough price point.

All being said, a titan Sky Lynx would have more potential given base modes than commander class.

Tidal Wave from tf Armada would have been a more interesting commander class.
