No this was around late 2010.
I like sky-lynx, but man that’s a weird choice.
I can’t help but feel like it’s a waste of the price point as I have a hard time believing children would be interested. He’s almost purely a nastalgia sell it seems to me. I’m really surprised the design hasn’t been lost to time.
Who would have a thought that something like sky-lynx would get two new toys before something more toyetic like Starsaber which seems to have a wider appeal based on aesthetic and gimmick alone.
Now featuring a figure that is neither a Transformer nor an Earthling.
That's some ballsy ad copy, Hasbro.
Eh. I mean, he turns into a dragon... cat... thing. 2 seconds on the internet shows that almost everyone goes bananas for cats and dragons in contrast to, say, a stuffy Japanese robot that turns into a "spaceship" that looks more like a broken surfboard than anything else.
I'm being a little facetious, but I'd say it'd be easier for a kid to point to the dragon and go "I WANT DRAGON" as opposed to whatever Star Saber is. And I love Star Saber.
I heard this rumour liek maybe two years ago for the first time and I am gonna stop believe to it. Well, at least I did not pay that much, some sellers are insane.
I'm not talking about animation errors or fluctuations in animation, I'm talking about the scale, IE unchanging master scale that is created for every cartoon etc.
If anyone has a complete S3 scale, I'd love to see it but based on this, which includes Dinobots and Jetfire, we can see that Sky Lynx was clearly bigger, MMC should be more than enough on it's own as they scaled their characters together properly
Quintesson and Quintessa: one or both of these is gonna be tied into the new base-building form factor the Weaponizers are taking.
The only reason I believed it was true is because the leaker has a good reputation and told us about Ironhide, Movie Bumblebee, Jazz, and Megatron. He may have even told us the other three as well, but I don't remember. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to see how they handle the jet underside.
The Dinobots are a much smaller size in Season 3 than Seasons 1-2, so that scale chart isn’t accurate already. And I can find just as many pictures of Sky Lynx in the cartoon at a smaller size as at a large one.
As you say nobody has an accurate Sunbow scale guide for Season 3 to go on, so if we go by the cartoon it can go either way. Even John Warden said he could fit in at either Commander or Titan class.
People talk about releasing Sky Lynx as 2 Commanders but I don’t see that, I mean how would you sell an $80 cat that turns into a box to children?
Interesting? I would have preferred a commander class Lugnut, but that was always a long shot. Quintessa and the Quintesson are the weirdest ones to me.
To be fair, a couple of weeks after revealing new (and some very Earth looking) figures, Hasbro did say that Earthrise is supposed to take place in space. It’s like they have no idea what they want to do, or there’s some miscommunication between the toy designers and the story tellers.
MPM Starscream and Ratchet have me really hyped though. I expect Starscream to be the HFTD leader figure just without the electronics, but I’m hyped for it.
Yeah, I'm just being silly. Totally stoked for a Quintesson. It's just funny that it's rumored to get a debut during the "Earthrise" portion as opposed somewhere else.
That said, "Earthrise" suggests that you're standing and watching the Earth "rise", like a sunrise or a moonrise, so it being in space isn't totally deranged.
Did not notice that, thanks for good point.
Well, it would be nice to see new mold, but it could be even reissue of MPM-01.
Wait, no, no, alright, I’m now convinced and sad that Sky Lynx will be so puny compared to Predaking
My thoughts exactly
I'm fine with cw sky-lynx unless this new one offers some neat micromaster and or city building capabilities
IFF Commander Sky Lynx has a base mode, I'll have the base guarded by Sky Reign and MMC Magna Inventa. For funsies
Ooh man, if Sky Lynx is a faithful representation of an 80's Space Shuttle Orbiter, at a similar size to Commander Class Skyfire, I'll be over the moon! I can't wait for Earth Rise figures!
