Hey buddy. The waist is the weak link in the chain. I swapped out the rod for a technic pin to lock it in, it’s more secure, but can still separate. Just get in the habit of picking him up by the crotch or leg.

Spend about an hour a day on it and you'll be done in 3 or 4 days. I'm kind of obsessive about Lego but I finished mine in about 2.5 hours without pausing for more than a few minutes. If you're a novice builder and want to set aside time to get it all done in one go, probably about 4 hours I'd reckon

I do recommend you keep it and give it a go. It's quite a lot of fun to build your own Optimus Prime from scratch

Not a Lego fan but I've been having fun building it after getting one for X'mas.

Yeah I know man I agree but ever get the feeling the toy was meant for someone else and not you? Cause that's how this feels

That red 1x2 plate is probably supposed to go somewhere. While I can't rule out an accidental extra, it's exceedingly rare for there to be spares of those.

The rest of that checks out, though.

Looks like that 1x2 plate goes on his left arm, as seen (or not seen, since it’s missing) in the quoted pic.

    Ah, yes. I see it.

Lucky it's in such an easy to access spot. I hate when I skip parts, and it turns out they're buried deep in the assembly and I've got to tear apart the build to get at it.

Especially if it's a complex Technic assembly I'm working on.

Yeah, the two-stud piece in the upper left corner of your picture. Missing from his left wrist.

Lucky it was in such an easy spot and that Fafnir also took a pic of the exact area where the missing piece was. Very fortunate coincidence overall. :)

Some time earlier in 2022, my partner gave me my birthday present: the first three bags of Lego Optimus!

The hardest parts for me were the blue leg parts followed by yup, the red fore arms.

I kind'a love how the transformation is so straight forward and still so effective.

I wish we'd arranged it differently - or rather than Lego had ordered the bags differently. I had the excitement of finishing Optimus, but there were two bags left. Oh, it's all the accessories. If I had known, I would have done the bags more like 1-3, 9-10, 4-8. Then it would finish with the head and the complete Optimus!

It's like The Scouring Of The Shire all over again...
