    It’s called being realistic.

figures Hasbro/Takara think won’t sell at $20-$50 won’t be made as almost $200 lego sets.

Looks pretty great overall, the only thing that irks me is the Matrix. With all the different pieces in lego, I think they could have done a more accurate job. I mean, the center piece for that matrix in the set isn’t even blue, and lego loves to throw transparent blue pieces in like.. everything they make lol.

I'd actually like to see this made into a proper figure, with how close to the original toy it is
With a better head and yellow eyes. I like G1 Primes with visible wheels in robot mode

I mean it’s just copying G1 Optimus so technically it’s already been made.

He has ratcheted hips. They go in and out and forward and backwards. Really all he needs is knees and then he's about as articulated as any modern Transformers figure

I mean, they didn’t actually transform without being fully taken apart so that helped. Can’t say they held together amazingly tho. My Optimus is… uh…. Not in great shape from them. Wish I had the will power to find all the parts scattered across boxes…

I mean, the Kreo sets didn't have to actually transform, they didn't look as good as this and Lego holds their designs to a ridiculously high standard when it comes to engineering, designs, stability and play.

Probably even more so with this set because it has to be an action figure, display piece, transform and look good in both modes. So the lack of knees makes sense.

It's hard to tell for sure from just the pictures, but the Matrix build might be limited by size constraints. I think the chamber is pretty shallow, and anything else added to the Matrix would probably prevent the chest from closing all the way.

I think it’s a fairly easy fix for those that want it more accurate. Have a 2x2 round brownish plate and then just stick a light blue 1x1 clear stud in the center of it. Should remain the same thickness.

Thankfully lego is very easy to mod for stuff like this.

That's probably the only mod I'm thinking of doing to mine too, but with a 2x2 round orange plate. Although depends on if the chest doors can still close with that but I doubt that'll be an issue.

Beauty of Lego, you can add you own distinct stuff to it

Point is Lego has a policy against violence. So no tanks fighter jets and other weaponry.
Yet they did this. So they sort of bend the rules they self imposed.
Sadly I doubt we get a Megatron from Lego.

Or perhaps you don't know the policy well enough to say what meets its criteria. I think you'll find there's a lot of violence in the media properties represented in the themes above and even in the sets based on those.

But yes, they are trying to limit military combat representation, and a gun or tank Megatron are right out, and Starscream is very unlikely for the same reason

    We’d never get a transforming G1 Megatron, but I could see a G1 Soundwave.

Unless it was Lego Classics Megatron.
And I would not be against that.

Although the "wings" would probably prove to be another issue.
