Well, I just hope someone here is attending it; that way, some of the fans will know for sure if the movie kicks ass or not.
My girlfriend works for one of the main newspaper companies in Japan so as a writer she gets free tickets to these kind of events so I'm gonna be going! However, like one of the forum writers posted earlier, the premiere and release date are different and from what my girlfriend told me, we won't be able to see the movie tomorrow... Maybe here sources are incorrect though... I'll report after the red carpet event!
Fixed. IRC Japan was one of the LAST countries to have their opening day for the movie. Now THAT sucks. This is just a world premiere.
This is soooo weird. I'm used to waiting months for movies, games etc. to come out in Japan. And Transformers comes early? Shhe yat. Amazing. And no, I would not hold out any hope for a bootleg. I find the Japanese generally terrified to do anything remotely illegal. When my (adult) students find money on the street, whether it's 10 bucks or 1000 bucks, they hand it to the police without fail. I know this because we do a (pointless) lesson about "what would you do if you found money" and I get the same answer, 100% of the time. I find that aspect of Japanese culture endearing. But someone pirating the movie with a cam in the theatre? No way. That's China.
