UPDATE: Scroll to bottom of post for new pictures and info The modifications I did to the car mode are obvious. I will point out that the reason the pin stripes look crummy is because the masking tape I used doesn't work well for small details like this. Secondly, his useless FAKE WHEEL. I hate it. I hate it. I hate. It's not even at least the right size! *face palm*. So to give the darned thing some more life (and give Sideways some more spunk), I turned it into a sword! A few things to point out about the sword: The blade is from some kind of Saint Seiya sword (I think). I sliced off a good chunk of it to accommodate the curvature of the wheel; and even then I still sanded away some of the wheel. The two parts were superglued. I still intend to add some bulk to the connection with Aves Epoxy. The wheel is no longer held in place by a screw, but rather is wedged into the socket after being slightly bulked with tape (although this is only a temporary fix; I will probably bulk it up with something better to finish). The wheel-sword is simply removed to allow for transformation. ----------------------- The sword is now finished. The silver paint I used kinda sucks a lot, but it's all I had to work with. For later silverifications of toys, I will use better paint. Note: No mods were done to Sideswipe. He's only there to show rivalry.
I actually love this mold. Its lightyears better than the prior Decepticons like Barricade. Great job on the sword, the flaking and everything to make it look battle damaged/used is nice. I personally would love to take the thing and make it a chainsaw which is what its supposed to be (the Robot Heroes version/FAB versions show a chainsaw), but the sword really makes him a good counter to Sideswipe.
Hehehe... sorry dude, didn't mean to be misleading, but the flaking is real. I'm not going to leave it gold-colored. I'm going to paint it silver. I'll post pictures of the finished product tomorrow (when it is finished). That was the idea I had immediately afterward. Yep.
I love this repaint. Don't understand why you hate the extra wheel so much, but your blade mod is very cool though
Ok, this has officially convinced me to work on my Sideways. I've been looking at him for the last two weeks wondering if the time would be worth it. You've shown me that it definitely would! Awesome work, man!
That sword mod is great. I was not a fan of this mold at first either, but since getting Sideways as a gift I've fallen in love with it. Nice job!
