Kind of a ho-hum paint app. I much prefer the movie accurate stuff. If this is a different character I could put up with it a lot more. Maybe it is... if Grindor is in the movie and not Blackout...

 

This looks like a great toy, but, ROFL, are those stubby things he standing on supposed to be his legs?   Seriously he looks so disporportioned standing upright.

 

amazing what a good paint job can do, I'll buy that!

 

So he has beast wars colors now?

 

I've been thinking, this is my most anticipated figure now!

 

Maybe this is just an unnecessary repaint just to sell the character again? I don't think prime has those Chinese symbols on him in the real movie and, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ironhide keep his old colorscheme even though the retool is gray?

It's not that simple. Retooling is pretty expensive. They're not going to retool something just to remove the gimmickry.
