I picked my scalpel up again after reading about being able to take his glasses off (which works by the way, you just need to be careful since you're probably pull out the full eye assembly at first, and the antennae will fall off) and I noticed one of my sockets are cracked too.

This is after transforming him about a dozen times and playing with him. The cracked socket still holds his leg, and seems tight still, so I'm hoping it won't get any worse than this.

I just checked mine and I have no cracks. Is this a hit and miss problem?

You're one of the lucky few. I've had three from three different retailers and all were the same with cracked or fully broken sockets.
I'm still sure it's mostly due to how they're packed in the bubble as pressure on the front would put strain on the sockets. All it needs is someone along the distribution pipeline to put down a box a bit too roughly or drop another box on top of it and I could see that bump and compression cracking the sockets. Of course, that wouldn't be a problem if the plastic used for the sockets wasn't the hard but brittle type.
    Just my conclusions anyway. :)

Should have listened to the feedback here. The leg sockets on the Scalpel I bought yesterday were cracked. It's going back tomorrow and I'm not buying another one. Pure crap.

I wonder if Hasbro ever gets info on what faulty figures get returned a lot so they can learn from their mistakes?

picked up Dune Runner today - a fun figure to be sure. As has been noted elsewhere the plastic feels slightly wierd, but its nothing too offputting.

RotF figures are on the whole supremely well detailed, and Dune Runner is no different

I dig him & have found that rounding the gray bar on the side of the alt mode's lens allows him to become more solid in bot mode - will need to upload a pic when I get home to show this better though...

Better range of movement on the legs would be nice. Otherwise it's a fairly well designed, somewhat unusual TF

I seem to be one of the few people that got a perfect one.. although that was evened out by two consecutive Swerve's with heads that don't fit the ball joint.

Does anyone else think the design would have been better as a Deluxe? I don't normally like the "ZOMG!!! THey shuld have made him a leader!!!!" mentality, but I think the design (especially of the legs) would have worked better at a larger scale.

Actually I do think this would've been better. He would've been able to position parts of his body a little better if he was bigger and had the necessary joints.

Some designs really have issues when the size is not appropriate to pull them off.

I think we'd have been better off with Scalpel as a Deluxe and Wheelie as a Scout. Or Wheelie just not being made, that mold looks ugly.

Really. Wheelie only deserved a legends class figure IMO. And that's being generous.

I wasn't going to buy him till I saw the film and ended up likeing his goofy little character.

The figure is neat just about for the same reasons as Deluxe Rampage, he has a really interesting transformation and contrast between his two modes. But you can't really pose him all that much in robot mode.

You know who is a cool figure though? Deluxe Wheelie.
His transformation is cool and you can pose him and he has an ugly little face that can emote. Man this figure is awesome!

Not that your gonna read this but, I think it's alright.

I haven't bought it. For reasons, of it's just that.

I don't know. I say go for him, he looks nice. He has a range of articulation.

Wow. Sounds like I got lucky with my Scapel. I've still only got one cracked ball joint receptor, and while posing him is still a bitch, I personaly think he is an excelent scout.

I guess you could say he's the Uni. 2.0 Galvatron of ROTF: you get a really good one or else it just sucks.

I got him and i have minor issues wth him.
1.) his ball joints aren't the greatest, but they are an easy fix.
2.) in alt mode, he wobbles. the legs aren't flush with the surface or something.
3,) I still have no clue what to do with his antennae in alt mode.

I won't pose Scalpel in Bot mode until I fix the legs issue.

Still, as delicate (imo) as he is, I still like him and am willing to support Hasbro's effort at making a bot like Scalpel. Happy to encourage the practice, as long as the QC is on the QT.
(pssst...can ya make that itty, bitty insecticon Sam killed?)
