Walked in to my local bookstore today, and found The Veiled Threat sitting on the shelves. Naturally, I got myself a copy, was probably the first buyer as they had just finished arranging them on the shelves.



For the benefit of Malaysian TF fans, the book was found in MPH Bookstores in Gurney Plaza, Penang. Since its a chain store, I'm sure you would find it in other MPH outlets too. Retails for 35.90, which is roughly USD$9.

Gonna get down to reading it right after this !

Also, iceburn, once you've read the novel, could you post (in spoilers) a summary? I'd like to know what bots are mentioned in the book, and if any of them are as-yet-unknown.

 

Ok well, i'm about 1/3 of the way through so far.

Will leave entire spoilers for later, but as of now, there are several new bots (as yet unknown ones) as well as several from the first movie's toyline-only characters.

Among the new characters thus far, are a rubbish truck (lol?) - with an equally cool name i might add, as well as a jet-ski.

Hopefully that didn't spoil too much  

 

I hope this prequel gets at least somewhat acknowledged in the new movie. I really enjoyed the first prequel, but then felt bad that nothing or no one who came out in it was really mentioned in the movie, not even the first astronauts that died almost in vein (they could have had photos of them up at Sector 7). The only thing I hoped was that Optimus was referring to them when he said, "I've seen their capacity for courage."

 

Prequel material is pretty much never mentioned in the primary fiction it supports, mainly because they're (usually) written by other writers and are usually written long after the script has been completed and the movie is currently filming.

What you would be looking for is writers of prequels picking up on things from the script and then expanding upon that for their stories. The onus is upon prequel writers to make their material fit the movie.

I envy you. Guess my Terminator Salvation Prequel will have to tide me over until the 28th.   Hope this one is better than "the Ghosts of Yesterday." I just couldn't get into it.
