I just finished reading Transformers: The Veiled Threat (it was awsome) and I wanted to start a Q&A thread. I am here to answer questions that you may have about the novel or anything related to it. Pleaser ask any questions you may have. -P.S.- If you have read it feel free to answer the questions and add your opinions.

-Payload - anti-aircraft tank (mini-con toy from TF: Cybertron) (Injured)

-Blademaster - helicopter (Injured - possibly rescued by Ruination)
-Trample - excavator (twin to tread) (Dies)
-Tread - excavator (twin to trample) (Dies)
-Kickback - bulldozer (Dies)
-Deadend - sports car (ROTF scout) (Retreats)
-Swindle - sports car (deluxe from first movie) (Retreats)
-Barricade - (Prime traps him, but does not kill him - he is still alive for ROTF)
-Frenzy - head (he is in Simmons apt. hooked up to wires and he is trying to get info from Frenzy)
-Unknown - crab (this unnamed character is a spy)


Synopsys:

Starscream orders the Decepticons to gather human energy for himself to make Energon. Some of the Decepticons are going behind Starscream's back and are getting extra Energon so they can revive Megatron. They say in the book that a large amount of energy or an existing spark can revive a fallen Transformer. I really like how they tie the two movies together.

Just like to pick you up on a few points.

Ruination was only injured and escaped the mountain fight. We never found out whether Blademaster was killed in the fall (the autobots even speculated that he wasnt and that Ruination may have carried him off to safety). We dont know what happened to Barricade - his fate wasnt stated - although I guess he was simply captured. It was also not stated what happened to Payload after being washed away or dropkick after escaping the dam battle.

You also missed Frenzy and the crab spy bot off the Cons list.

 

Payload could be repainted (AGAIN!!! ****ing Hasbro) from the Universe Dropshot figure.

He's certainly based on him, just faction-swapped and with the name slightly altered.

It was a good book. I liked it. What I really liked about it was that the humans werent capable of taking down a Decepticon, but when they used the new concept weapons to distract/annoy to give the Autobots help seemed far more realistic and acceptable to me.

Also I dont think Barricade was captured. I think he just went back through the tunnel he came out of when Prime escaped

 

I tried a thread like this, But it didn't get far. I think you worded the subject better. So I'm glad that tVT is getting some love. I personally enjoyed the book, and now I'm craving the movie even more.

Anyway, the only things I noticed from your list that conflicted with what i thought I read (and I could DEFINETLY be wrong) are:

-I was under the impression that Ruination AND Blademaster were both Ospreys, but if not then we could definetly be seeing a ruination repaint of Springer, and a Blademaster repaint of Blaze Master.

-When humans check out the collussium they find the place where Barricade was, but he seems to have Dug his way out though the tunnels, course right now i can't remeber if the scene was through Barricades eyes or Humans finding the hole.

-Minor nitpick, Dropkick came out as a toy first, as he was a drone in the video game, Salvage was a repaint of him.

In hoping that most of this is considered Cannon, The 3 extra Decepticons that choose construction ALT modes could be the Hint as to why the Excavator in Shanghai in the trailer (possibly Demolishor) is Mostly White, With a red Stripe, and the Excavator (possibly Scavenger)that is part of the Constructicon team is mostly red, with a white stripe.

I know ultimatly we will have to wait for the Movie. But I firmly think it's possible we will see more than 6 or 7 robots in the movie that have choosen Construction ALT modes, though the Core 6 or 7 are THE Constructicons.

I do hope we see toys for those Robots we dont have yet, and I would like to see them do the crab, as he was described as taking the crab's shape, but definetly NOT it's organic properties, so it's not a true "Beast Wars" Style Techno Organic, but proving that TFs can go deeper than copying local machines.

Again, I Guess we'll see  

 

what's the name of the Autobot that died in Africa? it made me sad... like watching that scene where Archer died on the hills in Africa ( the movie Blood Diamonds)

Also worth mentioning:

(going from memory, so feel free to correct)

- Transformers can 'eat' scrap metal which is broken down and converted into Energon

- Transformers can repair themselves / generate ammunition with the same process. Some are better at different functions than others. Ironhide, specialized in weaponry, so he's able to generate more ammo, etc. Ratchet, can heal/repair others. Optimus' specialty is leadership.
