That irks me a little. It puts the Autobots more like some kind of special correspondents working for the Army, and not half as effective as their weapons. It wouldn't be that bad, but now they go and have Devastator, the huge spotlight monstrosity for the Cons, getting beat by some glorified peashooter on a boat.

 

Oh? Well what do they do with it? I thought the power transfered directly into Allspark energy. Do they feed the Allspark with energon? Or do the Transformers eat it? Or is it used for weapons? Or some mixture of those, or something else?

 

An Electromagnetic Railgun is anything but a glorified Peashooter  

 

Between TVT and the novel I was under the impression that energon powers them, like a raw energy. They are able to be self sufficient, but energon is better.

ENERGON-It does a Chassis good!!!!!!

 

My point wasn't to bash the weapon, just to express disappointment at the fact that the humans are the only ones with the power to stop Devastator. But I guess that's how the movieverse is set up. If the Cons stay exposed too long, they're bound to be overwhelmed by the forces that already dominate the planet.

 

Does Sideswipe talk at all? I'm still ticked about those twins stealing his thunder. How much time does Ironhide and Ratchet get? Do the Twins do more than them as well?

 

Do they die? Or is Devy just split apart?

 

But that's not what I am talking about. They took away the character and replaced it with a natural disaster! Had it moved through space and then took the shape of a giant with great purple armor (for whatever reason he is supposed to look different to each race that sees him, I forget at the moment), do you think people would have complained as much?

However, FF2 failed for reasons greatly beyond them whimping out of showing the badguy.

I am only talking about reformating Unicron into a global threat that would work within the movieverse, into the combination of science fiction and fantasy that these movies are establishing and making it more accessible to general audiences. Within the context I created, it also puts the characters in a different position. Earth isn't directly involved in this conflict and have a choice. Do they let the Autobots die or save the Decepticons? Do they risk the lives of humans for the transformers? The drama writes itself.

But who knows, maybe they will find a way to make the giant planet eating robot planet work? This is just an idea of mine.

 

Well, if they split appart, it´s still bad, but not so much, since the force of a rail gun is gonna be pretty strong, maybe enought to shatter Devastator, but not enoguht to kill the individual members.

 

yes, it is too bad that devs goes down like all the other mission city cons....by the military. While the cast doesn't seem to colorful, i am nontheless going to enjoy this movie tremendously

 

Only thing that really disappoints me is that there isn't really a battle with Devastator by the sounds of it. I was hoping for him to be the focus of the end with the Autobots scrambling to figure out how to bring him down.

 

No Barricade?

 

The impression I get from this is that the "Constructicons" aren't so much a "Team" with set members, but rather just Decepticons with Construction Equipment alt. modes.

It kinda makes sense really. The 'Cons seem to be, on avarage, bigger and stronger than the Autobots and alternate modes like normal cars and trucks would be inappropriate for them to scan. Heavy machinery like Military crafts and Construction vehicles would be the ideal choice.

I suspect that Devastator being the Gestalt of a specific group of 6 or 7 'Cons is simply a toyline necessity (in the same way that they gave the bike sisters three names to get around three deluxe motorcycle Transformers all being named "Arcee", or improvising alt. modes for those that don't transform such as Scorponok and The Fallen).

It would certainly explain why there's so little agreement on exactly which and how many bots actually make him up. (Demolisher, Scavenger, Overload, Mixmaster, Scrapper, Hightower, Rampage, and Long Haul have all been listed by various sources as being components.)
