I've always liked this mold. I love how tall of a figure he ends up being when he is transformed. With that being said, I always felt he looked a bit too cartoony. So I wanted to make him look more realistic, while leaving his intimidating look in vehicle mode. I then found Hotwire's excellent custom of Lockdown. Minor/Repaint: - ROTF Lockdown (Mad Max/Deathrace Style) He combined inspirations from both Mad Max and Death Race. After watching Mad Max: Fury Road. I decided to make Lockdown but more in keeping of Mad Max style. (I also made a small Max to accompany Lockdown, as seen here: Non-TF: - Mad Max custom figure ) So I made some modifications to his car mode and robot mode. With some help from Shapeways ://www.shapeways.com/product/R77METKJN/lockdown-kit-mk3?optionId=1116508&li=ostatus and inspiration from various radicons, I present my Mad Max Lockdown! (Picture heavy). Modifications to his car mode: -All spikes and the spoiler removed. -Exhaust pipes reshaped and angled away from the tires. -Rollbar with lights and additional fuel tanks added. -Heavy duty push bar bumper added to the front. -Armored windows. Modifications to robot mode: -Shapeways Lockdown Mk3 kit modified and applied. -Engine block/turbo charger splits in half with the rest of the legs. -DotM Barricade hands modified and applied. (Added articulation) -Left arm shoulder pad/cape cut and attached to forearm. -Added hinge allows the window on the left side fold down. -Added 5mm holes on left arm for accessories. With Barricade's hands he can hold 5mm pegged weapons and has two hands instead of one. (Someone else's idea here, but I can't remember who it was. ) Fun fact: Rollbar/light bar and bumper made from cannibalized voyager Ratchet parts which seems fitting for Lockdown! Honest opinions are welcome! Lightweight Gunner- Heavy Gunner- Details- Thanks for looking!
That is a very interesting build! Making an already awesome figure even cooler is quite the accomplishment. I'm really liking the gas tanks and new hands. The front grill pieces look rough, but honestly, they work. Overall, very nice work!
Thank you! The front is perhaps a touch too rough. Thank you! Yeah, looking over it again, the the front bar bumper could be smoothed out and repainted.
Incredible! I love this mold and the mods you made really improve it. Splitting the engine is awesome.
That's actually a pretty good use of that figure. If you have or haven't heard of, or played the game Rage, look it up. It is a scifi Mad Max influenced video game that came out in late 2011. But there is a car you can acquire in it that looks very much a dead ringer of your kit bash here. I went ahead and linked the Rage wiki. The Monarch is the one I'm talking about. Vehicles
That is incredible! Love the mods you made, and as far as the push bar being a little rough, I like it. Looks like he has used it to do some pushing!
Thank you! It made a surprising amount of difference how I view the figure. He needed two hands, especially two hands that can hold more weapons! Thank you all! Thank you! I was worried it wouldn't work, but I took the risk, I'm glad you like it! Thank you! I looked it up, that's awesome! They do look alike for sure! Some sweet looking cars! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I did want him to look a little rough and battle worn, like he's been out bounty hunting for awhile and he's has some pretty good fights. I'm glad you like it!
I was just having a bit of fun with Lockdown and Bumblebee. Made a small stop-motion via gif style. Took some other pictures. I thought I'd post it...
