Wal-mart! I know your shelves are bare, but PLEASE bring out some stuff!

This is why I shop mostly at Zeddy's and TRU.

I believe Fred Meyers did this for the first film as well.

On a related note, Target had some RoTF Robot Heroes today.

My Wal-Mart(Merced, CA) broke the street date, they had (all deluxe)Wheelie, Smokescreen, Sideswipe, Sideways, Skids, Chromia, Deep Desert Brawl, Rampage and the Bumblebee VoiceMixer. I came back later in the day, and they had put out some Deluxe Bumblebee.

Dude, we all knew there would be pre-release leaks. Don't act like you had some great insight. I'll say now that before Movie 3's release date, toys will get leaked. There will also be toys stolen from factories & people will review them.

No I saw that display, it was a giant middle-of-the-aisle type cardboard thingy that had these figures on all sides. It was outside of the Silverhawks and JEM aisle. No idea why those two are together....

exactly! he predicted the obvious. Thats like me saying its gonna rain somewhere before the end of the month.

I, Getodamous will make some predictions.
GI Joe movie Figures will be leaked before thier release date.
Getodamous will make one more prediction, any movie toy franchise released from here to the end of time will be leaked before thier official release date.
and for a bounus Getodamous makes another prediction, someone here will buy a ROTF Megatron, open it and will be broken.

I'm a newb, I wasn't sure what those terms were. I looked those up, and I'd think you were ridiculing me :)  Also, I saw tonight that they were bringing out pallets that had Leaders, Scouts and Battlers. They were in boxes still, but they wouldn't open them for me.:mad

Why do companies even bother with street dates? Some people just can't or don't want to read, but there are also cases when your shipping and receiving manager's breathing down your neck because you and your team can't keep the sales floor fully stocked, which of course leads to items net yet set for the sales floor finding its way there.

If companies cared so much about street dates, why don't they do what Sony did for the PS2 and PS3 (eg ship them days before the official release). Sending them weeks in advance is asking for trouble.

Aside from the slap on the wrist fines stores may face, do they even care? A sales a sale and store managers are always worried about their stores making their daily quota.

Nice finds by the way, but I do have one question: are you going to open those figures or what?

The street date works for several reasons. (in no particular order...)

1.) One set date, no wondering or worrying when or if it should be out.
2.) Everyone gets the equal amount of chance to get the figures they want.
3.) It's a promotional thing, just to get us talking, sales planned, etc.

But some stores do feel they're above the say so and just do it anyway. (I applaud them (lol), too bad they're nowhere near me. lol)

There's nothing wrong with sticking to the date I suppose (though I do think it could be moved up, I'm not sure why it has to be at the very end of the month...) I'm just impatient. (As the rest of us are. lol)
