I've been wondering what the basic opinion of ROTF Leader Prime was in alt mode? From the pictures it looks to me that the alt mode was sacrifices in order to make an accurate robot mode. What I mean is the wheels on Prime don't look as good in the pictures as they do on the 2007 Prime. So have you been able to transform the rear wheel section and make it look like a good composite or does it look a little loose? I'm waiting for premiums to come out before I buy, seriously, and I imagine that I will keep MA-22 in alt mode and have ROTF Prime in robot mode. Most likely in 'Power up' mode too! Please post pictures! Thanks!
You know, I haven't even attempted to transform the ROTF Prime as I already have the last Prime in truck mode. It is sort of the last transformation I want to do as I would have to immediately turn it back into the bot mode. That said, I'm pretty certain that Hasbro stated at one of their Botcon panels that they weren't making any premium repaints this time around. I'd be happy if that turned out to be true, but it's hard to imagine that they'd turn down the chance at a repaint.
I was at the panel but not paying much attention. I thought they said they were not doing premiums but someone else say they were not doing a premium line but still doing some premiums. Given all the repaints I'm assuming no premium ratchet, ironhide, blackout, voyager optimus but they'll probably do premium leaders since if they don't have any other repaint ideas.
thats about right......IMO the 2007 movie prime had the better alt mode all things considered. The Rotf Prime's truck mods succeeds in the fact the it addressed/ corrected the old molds flaws but then took on its own flaws to have the quote "perfect" robot mode. The new one is fantastic with the way they closed in the back addressed the panel line etc etc but the tires are weak and it just looks physically smaller to me. With that being said its an easy sacrifice to get the prime I wanted in the first place.
ROTF Prime is actually more accurate in Alt mode. The wheels/tires don't look quite as nice, but that's the only complaint I have. Aside from that it looks WAY better than 07 Prime. The rear wheels can be positioned properly so that it looks right. There were a lot of pics of the alt mode where they didn't bother to position the rear wheels properly so they look all wonky, but it actually isn't that bad. The proportions of both the robot and alt mode are FAR more accurate than the 07 Prime. I HIGHLY recommend ROTF Prime.
The back end and roof of the cab as well as the fifth wheel area of TF1 Leader Prime is completely and utterly wrong. ROTF Prime is much better and more accurate. The alt mode in general is much better designed.
Personally, I think the ROTF leader Prime's alt-mode is far more soild then the 2007 one. It does a good job to hide almost all the robot parts away. The only downside are the gears in the front windows. I really wish they hadn’t done that. But overall, I think it's a major improvement over the first one.
Looks-wise, ROTF Prime's alt mode is way more accurate. I do think the 2007 model is somewhat sturdier, though.
If the end isn't lined up perfectly, the fenders sit too high. (the fenders are attached to the cab, not the wheels, so they have to be lined up properly) He's amazing, the vehicle mode is the nicest truck ever and the robot mode is the best movie Prime, maybe the best any Prime we've ever gotten.
Yeah, that makes sense. Hasbro HAS to repaint the Leader molds again, so it would either have to be a "premium" repaint or something else. They did a good job with the repaints of the Leaders last time around, so hopefully they'll match or exceed that this time.
I really, really hope they do a Nightwatch Prime repaint of him. I absolutely adore that color scheme, and it would probably look even better on this one.
The 2007 Prime has larger wheels, and I like the blue windows. Those are the only thing that I find more appealing with the 2007 version. ROTF Prime has no uncitely gun in the back, and has more accurate detail overall. So, honestly I think they both have incredible alt modes but ROTF Prime is a bit more impressive considered the alt mode is made from such a screen accurate 'bot mode.
Honestly, the only issue I have with ROTF Prime is the wheels, they just look way to small for a vehicle that size; other than that it's spot on.
Anybody else realize Leader Prime has the Autobrand 3 times on his body? 1 on his visor 1 on his hood 1 on his chest
Same here. Maybe sometime when I can just sit down comfortably with a lot of time on my hands. He's already so worth the price in bot mode alone...
Thanks for the replies. It's hard to believe that he wil not get Premium treatment, but then again these toys are done real well. Maybe they might call it something else. If I bought it now I'd wait until November to open it, then I'd know if they plan on Premiums or not and I can sell it on Ebay. Does Optimus get Blue LED treatment this time BTW?
