Hasbro, for obvious reasons, has never outlined Optimus's flames with the white-blue pin stripes that he has in the movies. I've also never seen anyone do it to their Optimus toys. I plan to do it when I get my ROTF Leader Optimus.

So yeah, you guys should try that. I think it'll bring some more life to Leader Optimus. Make him pop. Ya know?

Suggested tool: Sharpie Silver Paint Pens
It's not exactly white or blue, but it's close, should look good, and isn't expensive.

I think the reason that they don't add the with flame outlines is because they are just to damned thin, you'd barely see em, maybe....

I know, that's why I said it's obvious. But with a Silver Sharpie, you can make them more visible.

Oh, I see. I had not seen that before. That's pretty much exactly what I'm talking about. I plan to do that with ROTF Leader Optimus.

Really?! A complete repaint?! Sweet. You should keep you work in progress pictures in radicons. Just make a thread and title it MOVIE OPTIMUS WIP!! If you spend as much time and detail as your legos on painting him, it will be great!

It would look awesome but theres one small problem. If you paint the pin-stripes onto such small flames the pin-stripe wont be to scale with the flames and the rest of the truck. In the movie they are tiny, probably not even the width of your pinky finger. Its impossible to paint a line small enough to make it scale accurate on a toy, yet alone as a complex design like primes flames. Encline did it and it looked cool but his lines were still far too big. Not his fault its just physics. A sharpie pen would be way too big, as would any paint brush i can think of. You'd need a brush with 1 bristle on it about the size of a cat hair to paint an accurate pin-stripe around primes flames.

I plan on repainting a rotf prime as well. I just got mine and he is so awesome! He looks like a lot of fun to work on as he is full of potential.

while I agree with this, there's nothing stopping us from making repaints look cooler (like encline did) scale isn't a factor when making cool customs. I agree that they'd be pretty much thinner than a hair's thickness on the toy, but a .1mm pin stripe would be awesome.

Just got my 3rd prime, which I plan to "go all out" with him + a jetfire I have ...gonna do the combo set up, most likely won't transform, but will better resemble the combo concepts seen on the front page yesterday.

well, another option would be the 100 extra parts that need to come off....I think that might be more "appealing"

Well if you could find a way to cut them up and a way to reassemble them back in to one so they can keep their original transformation. That would be cool.

nice idea. major part forming is still better than extra parts to the side. I'm scared to tear up Jetfire though lol.

Yeah, my pinstripes that time were big, no doubt, but a smaller brush and steadier hand will make for a better line for me this time. I am sure not in perfect scale, but hey, we will see.
I am excited to see all the movie repaints stuff. Realizing hey many are going to be done has really made me push my self with new ideas and better ways to make it better!!

fo sho. it's all about putting a creative spin on the figure. "Movie accurate" only goes so far, it's the ones outside the box which will stand out.

Also, like red4 said, a marker might be a good alternative to a brush. I'd imagine having a very stiff hand after doing all those stripes. But now that I'm thinking about it, might also be nice to duplicate the flames on the computer and print out some nice waterslide decals WITH the pinstripe around the edge...that would be perfect.

That would probably be the best. The only guys I know that could pull stripes that small where guys who have been doing for years on bikes and stuff. But hey, I like the idea of seeing the imperfections of skilled hands, but the precision of the computer may never be beat.

All I know is, I NEED TO MAKE SOME MONEY!!!!! SO I BETTER MAKE SOME KILLER STUFF!!!!!!
