I haven't done a repaint in a while and haven't made much progress on my heavy projects so I thought I would do this. Plus the little guy is awesome enough to deserve it. The red is a duplicolor ford touchup paint others are a mix of acrylic and lacquer paints. This was also the first time I've used a wash to bring out the lines on the doors and grille. Overall I'm pretty happy about it. C&C welcome.
Out-standing.. Love the color bro. I've got some ideas for this figure, assuming I ever find it, lol. Again, great work.
Everyone seems to be coming out with ROTF Hubcap customs these days. Awesome shade of red! My only gripe is that the unpainted plastic parts stick out like a sore thumb.
kinda agree with mampy, i love how it's painted but the unpainted plastic is just a wee bit obvious. still the altmode is a thing of beauty
Ya. It doesn't show up in the pictures but there is a subtle drybrushing on those parts. I didn't want all of the robot parts to be the same color, and after noticing some of the brown plastic with some drybrush on it, I actually liked the look. I do agree it doesn't look great here though. I'll probably go back and give it a wash to help the drybrush stick out a bit more.
That colour sorta looks like a shade reminiscent to candy apple red... I wonder how Hubcap would look w/ a blower perched on his hood & a set of fats out the back... Nevertheless, that's a nice job Mate!
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! ya. It's actually the same color as my expedition. lol. It's some paint I had left over from helping a friend build her samus costume. lol. Originally I had planned on building this guy as an homage to laser rod volt and thought about adding a blower riser to the hood. I'm glad I didn't in the end though. This looks so much cleaner of a street rod.
