i think its odd how chromia has a bike that looks nothing like the shots weve seen of the bikes, from the comic covers and on set, where arcee seems to be the right model, i thought they were all the same bike..
Gotta love how Chromia and Arcee have the same exact head but completely different Alt./Bot mode. *sigh* I love my fembot bikes but why the same heads? that just cheapens it to me. After studying those pegs/slots I'm betting it's for posing purposes only and that they combine in some other type of fashion. *loud buzz* Wrong answer. There is absolutely no reason for Hasbro to make a Supreme Arcee considering she isn't a popular main character, she's nothing more than background fodder. Secondly Arcee gets killed off rather quickly in the movie and without explanation simply because "Bay hates her"
Look what they did to one of my favorite characters. Bastards!!! I supported the 1st movie but now I'm siding with the haters. No, you're not missing a thing. I think most people are getting caught up in the "how do they combine?" hype/speculation. And they're totally ignoring how horrible they actually look. After the movie hype dies down nobody is going to want figures that look like that in their collection. Just watch ebay, these things are gonna be the 1st to be purged from everybody's collection.
I see what happened here. The purple bike in the first pic is not the third biker chick. The purple bike in the first pic is the Arcee toy from the first movie, for comparison. The third ROTF bike will be a Redeco or Retool of Chromia.
(IMO moment below) I'll be quite honest at this point in terms of this version of Arcee. It makes no sense, basically IDW is going to have to go back and completely change the movie-verse comics because they used the previous concept version of Arcee(which is actually a much better version I might add) then Bay had his designers(who probably never even referred to that version once) go back and completely redesign her and make her into 3 characters that for all intents and purposes in the actual movie are probably not even referred to by name. And after reading all the feedback from the Tokyo Premiere my hopes for Arcee being a really purposeful and meaningful character have hugely plummeted. It's sad to read that the majority of the folks who are TF fans don't like the idea of her or any other female TFs existence.
Why, as fembots, do they not look, you know, feminine? They don't have to go all "sexyish and pink" like G1, but at least with the old scrapped Arcee model from TF1 we could tell it was a "she." And no, this isn't an inviation to get into a robot gender discussion. TFs are, narratively speaking, human analogues.
Since nobody has given a decent answer yet. You're not missing anything. You're just the target audience for Animated, Classics, stuff like that. Whereas there's also people that like to break up the chain of generic humanoid designs with a good amount of freaks. Movie Bonecrusher, ROTF Bikerchicks, Demolishor, stuff like that. Whiners (which i'm definitely not saying you are) are egomaniacal bags of slag that think Transformers exists for them, and only them. While the truth is, Hasbro can't focus on just one group, their stuff just wouldn't sell. So every now and then, you'll see a line of figures that doesn't appeal to you. That's just Hasbro picking a little variety in their style. Fans of the humanoid g1/animated-style designs will be able to save money during this period, until Hasbro releases their next series. Like they did with Animated and Universe after the movie. Long story short: You like humanoid robots. I like having some freak-bots without having those invade the more humanoid-oriented toylines. Hasbro keeps both in mind when producing toys.
I'm really looking forward to how IDW is going to handle her. There are a few possible explanations they can give. 1. It's just three sisters, no further indication there's only one 'bot present. (This would retcon out her appearance in the ROTF adaptation comic, much like how Barricade's death was retconned out in the TF07 adaptation comic.) 2. Arcee has always had three bodies, it's just that the previous comics featured only one of her bodies, with the other two elsewhere. 3. Arcee has been in combined mode in every IDW comic so far, and splits herself when she gets to Earth. (IDW movie-Arcee has never been to Earth, so she's never taken an Earth altmode.) I always get a kick out of how retcons are put together like that. And even giving no explanation for the inconsistency would be acceptable. In any case, there'll inevitably be some "Arcee is totally special and has a spark that can be at three places at once" etc. techno-babble label for it.
I will get these just to put them in the combined mode...overall I'm not very enthused with what they did with Arcee for the movie...she should have been a bipedal combiner of the bikes or even a small car........but anyway just glad they included her this time around and hopefully she gets a better part in the third movie....
Excuse me, but was it actually confirmed by those at the world premiere that Arcee's combined form isn't shown?
Chromia looks like she has Animated Optimus' face on her helmet. Oh and could it be a combined vehicle mode?
I did this at first too and get all excited and confused. But to be fair I wasn't at a home computer i was viewing it on my phone. I want to see the purple bot and learn her name NOW please!
Well, considering she's supposed to be a redeco of Chromia, seeing her is easy with a little photoshop. I too am wondering what the name for the third bot will be though. I'm also curious about combined mode. Though anything is fine by me, i'm buying them for the figures itself, combination is just a bonus. People are expecting a little too much out of a gimmick.
Yes. Misinformation means Bay. Bay is not Hasbro. Besides, misinformation that only makes people less enthousiastic about a movie would not be tactical.
Am I missing something, or is this a complete departure from the purple arcee we got in 2007. What did they find wrong with that design ? As far as I was concerned, it looked "movie like" enough. But now.. arcee looks like demolisher. And demolisher is a dude ! I don't see the need for this redesign at all. Unlike the redesign of optimus from 1981 to now... this redesign of Arcee does nothing good to the character.
