So with all the awesome variation that the rotf constructicons have, I've been thinking a lot about what they're specialized to do (or if you subscribe to the "Constructicons are an army with "types", then what their type is used for). What would each of their individual roles be on the team, both combat and non-combat related? For inspiration I'm using their studio series looks, as well as their appearances in the films (obviously): Demolishor: It's there in the name: he DEMOLISHES. He's a brute-force wrecking ball. When you need a structure torn down, a mountain of material reduced to pebbles, or your enemies turned into pancakes, he's your guy. Overload: He's all about deconstruction, often dealing with the more delicate operations. When you need a door torn open without demolishing the entire structure, or some delicate or volatile hardware turned into scrap, go to Overload. I also imagine he specializes in torture! He's one of the more intelligent members of the team as well, often lending a hand (or four) in planning builds or attacks. Long Haul: It's there in the name again, he HAULS. But he's also a leader of sorts. Well maybe more of a straight military guy instead of a crazy brute like Demolishor or Rampage. He's the foreman but also likes to get his hands dirty. He's the stoic and intimidating face of the constructicons. Mixmaster: Demolitions specialist perhaps? Maybe a dash of mad scientist? Nobody knows for sure, but they do know that if Mixmaster is on the battlefield, something unexpected is going to happen. Rampage: He's the resident psychopath of the group. Always getting down in the muck and doing the dirtiest jobs. He's smart enough to remember a simple plan, and just dumb enough to not realize it could be a suicide mission. Luckily he seems to come out of most situations alive, whether it's disabling the engine on an enemy ship while they're shooting at him, or ripping into autobot special ops forces. Scrapper: The most well-balanced member of the team. A friend would call him a "jack of all trades" but a cynic would call him a "master of none". He would probably kill that cynic though. Quickly and decisively. He has a variety of ancillary attachments and tools and he knows how to use them. Scrap Metal: The spy/scout. As the smallest of the group, it would be easy to overlook him, and it does happen a lot! But when the group does have need of him, he is not left out. He can scout out dig sites and scrounge for useful materials and scraps. In a fight he's not of too much use, but has been known to throw down every now and then. Hightower: The most shy and withdrawn of the group. Doesn't have the confidence to put himself out there, but also wants to be liked. He sometimes doesn't even transform unless told to. The various attachments for his tower means he specializes in clearing paths for the rest of the group, both in builds and in battle.
Thanks. So did the toy designers I feel. They made guys like scrap metal and hightower feel like they might have personalities.
This is just because of that stupid grin on SS Overload, but my headcannon is that Overload is fascinated with humans and sometimes has thoughts of leaving the Decepticons.
Wow awesome descriptions! You really should write the movies which will come out in the next few years!
I like that idea! But alternately (and to fit with my existing description) maybe torture just makes him happy Thanks! I got the idea to write up mini bios from @Sol Fury ’s Instagram page which is a really fun page.
I'd see a Constructicon solo film with those personalities. Working on a TF story myself, I have a really hard time finding ideas in characters, personalities, and storylines to develop my universe. Reading other's ideas gives me inspiration, hopefully not to the point of plagiarism!
Feel free to take inspiration from these! I don't mind at all, as long as you don't copy what I wrote word-for-word without credit. Isn't it fun to think of stuff that they didn't have time to do in the actual movies? I wish there were a lot more of those "tales of the fallen" comics we got back in 09.
Mixmaster would probably be the “fire support” of the group, shielding the smaller ‘cons from fire and using his cannon to obliterate bunkers and take out targets from afar.
He could definitely shield some of the smaller guys, but there isn’t much he could do for guys like long haul or Demolishor. He could shield valuable components for builds or weaponry!
I've always viewed Hightower as something like a tracking and attack dog for the Constructicons; something akin to Ravage.
