He does. More evidence that the Hasbro toy designers don't really get that much info on the movie models to work with. They probably get a sketch or two, the same ones that sometimes get leaked online, a picture of the vehicle mode and then it's "hurry up and make a toy of this guy!"
You folks are on crack. This isn't an "old" design. It is the final design. It only looks sorta weird because of the angle, pose, and the fact that it's not a geometric model. The only significant difference is the lack of a gold tooth. If someone can post a side-by-side comparison between this concept piece, and a final version image, and point out the actual differences (beside the gold tooth thing), I will eat my words.
Well with the concept art looking like that I'll know how to paint him. With two hite teeth ... maybe.
Well, the only significant difference I caught was that two of the wheels fold up into his back, instead of being on the sides of his feet. So it is a early version of the design, just very close to what they ended up going with. On a side note, it actually finally accrued to me today what Skids and Mudflap remind me of. They're like if Ed "Big Daddy" Roth had designed a couple of Transformers. Which makes me like them even more now. lol For anybody who doesn't know who Ed Roth is: http://www.bigdaddyroth.com/
I sometimes feel bad for the people who design these robots, people never really look at the details, they all just take passing glances... Should I get you a napkin?
Damn. You're on to something. Perhaps they're not so bad after all. I do have to say that I also like the fact that they have a "robo-punch" with the larger fist on the toys as their gimmick. Perhaps I'll give these guys a try after all.
